But it could also mean cheating, for example boosting stats such as EHP on ships or movement or even sig, if done in moderate amounts the player doing it would be hard to detect if they still die once in a while or are smart and turn it off when they know they need to die in order not to get suspected by others.

Or just boost DPS when solo ratting, or some other more subtle stuff like that.

Considering everything that’s come to light recently, actually no There’s individual botting, and organised botting. There’s PVE botting, and there’s specialised botting.

CCP’s been focusing on the individual pve botting. They gave you some flawed statistics, in the hope you’d bite down on that focus and ignore the rest.

Omega / Alpha isn’t the demarcation line indeed. But the difference in focus against botting, that however is.

Also, it’s become quite popular to run accounts on the side, via AWS and other such services. Ignored by CCP, even though it has become quite the topic in the industry itself.
