800,000 EHP Orca

Plucking Clown

Nice, but too much sacrifice. I’d lose compression and 1 mining boost module.

The fit I linked still has two high slots empty, you can easily fit compression on it.

If you insist you want two mining boosts you could either skip the shield resist boost or one of the shield rigs for a fourth boost. I’m not at my PC but guess that the shield resist boost is the smallest EHP effect and best choice to skip.

Apologies. I didnt look at the usable cpu and power grid. Usually when people leave empty slots, it’s because thos are already drained. But there is a limit on Orcas for no more than 3 boost modules.

As for defense profiles, most gang killers in high sec are stuck on hybrid weapons. Talos and Catalysts

One final note. I wouldn’t jump right back into the middle of the armada that just got me. Why would you even assume that?

There are just under 2,000 systems in High Sec and it’s really easy to set up a new home somewhere else. To date, I’ve had around 50 “homes” so far. I change systems often. I have jump clones in every empire. I simply don’t understand why you’d think that miners are trapped in a single system. High Sec doesn’t work like that.

Usually miners complain that they cannot move and cannot mine if hostiles are in ‘their system’.

I’m glad to hear you’re not one of those miners, but I do wonder how you’re going to mine that moon.

That’s why I said you can either skip the shield resist boost or one of the shield rigs for a fourth boost. There is a rig (Large Command Processor I) that allows you to equip an extra boost module.

As you’re already in heavy diminishing returns with resistances the Shield Harmonization Charge doesn’t do much, so you could switch have a 1.57M EHP version with two mining boosts and moon ore compression.

Athanors can be moved. My corp owns several of them and only one is currently anchored. We can simply deploy another in a new system while waiting out the timer to retrieve the one in use. It’s that easy.

And thanks to the holding corp I set up for us, we can do so in relative safety. No war decs. I’m simply playing the same game as so many others. If others can do it, so can we. We may lose a structure, but we won’t lose Concord protection.

And I’m not worried about the Dread Gurista shield mods. They’re the same ones leftover from my days flying a Skiff. That Skiff cost about 300 million ISK while the Orca costs 2 billion. The shield mods serve it so much better! And I’m a very big fan of the motto of the Skiff- “If it’s worth your time, it’s worth protecting.”

Final edit: Thank you for that fit! I didn’t add in a second shield booster, but I did buy those shield mods and those two low mods. I didn’t know anything about the Piths. Thank you for that! I’m now sitting at 1 million overheated.

No, it’ll be one guy with a dozen input broadcasting talos.

Until EM bust damage weapons become a thing, tank for blasters and artillery,

Take two Shield Command bursts and drop a mining foreman, only one is needed to get yield. Fit Shield Extension and Hardening charges.

So would a stork and would cost a magnitude less. Dump it in an athanor to compress.

An Orca is terrible ROI for a two man operation. Fly two barges and join an existing fleet, yield will double and the risk of loosing an Orca is eliminated.

Not always will there be an existing mining fleet though.

I too mine with booster + miner if I’m on my own with a two character mining setup. Porpoise and Hulk in NS in my case.

But you’re right that joining an existing fleet with two miners is better, if the fleet already has mining boosts.

Miners are not noted for their intelligence

But…he doesn’t mine for money

Are high sec gankers able to defeat it?

If enough of them can get together at the same time with the same goal at the same location as the Orca, yes. They can. High Sec has 2,000 systems. It can be destroyed, but a lot has to happen for the attack to be successful.

Most Orca kills are ones that are not tanked.

Well of course I don’t. CCP, CSM, and all of the Null sec Dwellers nerfed High Sec into the ground which turned High Sec into a Pay to Win area of space. I love High Sec, but there’s just no money in it. So I pay cash money to get everything I want while enjoying the game. It wasn’t my call. I simply adapted.

The days of permanent ice fields and selling ore for profit are over. Only moon mining is profitable now.

Why ?

Because I don’t have to answer to anyone. There are complaints on Reddit about miners in null giving up because they’re micromanaged into only mining low value rocks while the multiboxers running 60 accounts mine the high value ones. R64 moons are in short supply and mined out in no time. Just more headache than profit if you ask me.

Plus, my goal is not to be a 24/7 miner. Never has been and never will be despite what you or anyone else like to claim about me. I do what I want in this game and that changes multiple times a day. Finally, I only play 3 maybe 4 days week.

High Sec is freedom.

Nerf the income to the ground- make moon mining only yield a maximum of 1 million ISK an hour. I don’t care. I’ll drop PLEX and keep paying my way into whatever my ship of the week is. Null sec cave dwellers can have that place. Capital ships just aren’t worth taking orders from those that dwell there. Hell, with how they’ve inflated ship costs anyway, the cave dwellers are even afraid to fly caps. Hopefully the wars going on between Horde and Goon will be so devastating that Null is left in complete shambles.

You already answer to @Zaera_Keena regardless if you want to or not.

:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

High sec and everything that flyeth there belongs to Aiko. Don’t let it be said though that she is not a gracious leader as due to her genorosity, you are free to mine in the highest security systems with a suitably tanked skif on the condition that the mining yield is close to zero.

You may also transport your hulks in an orca aslong as yo’re route is provided beforehand so that arangements can be made for your Safety.

Oh. Sorry. I sold that Skiff and put the very same shield modules on my shiny new Orca that flies alongside a shiny new Hulk. The two are inseparable and can empty out any asteroid or ice belt in no time. I loved that Skiff. It served its purpose, but I no longer need it. I now own an Orca, two Hulks, and a Mackinaw. If only there was enough time in my day to fully empty out a moon ore field. I hate seeing all that uncollected ore go to waste.

Seeing as you do not need money, it is only fair thay you notify the Frostpacker whenever you engage on such an endeaver so that he may remove your ore for you, and feed his starving children with the proceeds, of which he has many as breeds like a rabbit.
