Those of you that know of me know of my great affection for my adopted home, for the principles that we stand for, and of our role as the guardian of the human spirit.
I have been privileged enough to have found a home for myself in the Federation as an immigrant, as have many millions upon millions of others that make the journey to liberty’s light, to seek refuge in our bastion of freedom. My citizenship, my status as a free individual, is a testament to the Federation’s tolerance and willingness to grant second chances, even if those may not feel deserving of such generosity.
The emphasis we place on the individual importance of our humanity, the diversity of our societies and nations, whilst championing our unique status as an interstellar community bound by mutual consent and co-operation under Charter and Constitution sets us far apart from our neighbours. That emphasis encouraged me to make my home here, as it has many others. It inspired me to take up arms to defend the liberty of the people from the oppressive designs of those that would plunge them into darkness, under a shroud of tyranny. It encouraged me to consider the needs of the individual as well as that of greater society, and to value the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution, an ironclad guarantee to each and every inhabitant of the Union.
It is for these reasons why I am endorsing Senator Lucas Tenzin for the Office of Federation President in the Federal Elections of FC243.
Senator Tenzin has fought and bled for our Union as a member of the Federation Armed Forces. As a Senator, he served his constituents admirably, going to bat for the destitute and the needy, and upheld the Constitution he swore an oath to by challenging former-President Aguard in respect of their intolerable delay to the Elections. As President, he will be a paragon of Federal values, seeking to serve all in the Federation, regardless of stature, influence, or position. We need leaders that will consider the whole as well as the individual. Senator Tenzin will ensure that is their priority for their administration.
I cannot in good conscience endorse a candidate that would seek to strengthen the megacorporations of the Federation over empowering the citizenry to seize their own destiny. We know all too well from our history that those that would prioritise profit over the common weal of the people will not restrain themselves in their pursuit and will inflict intolerable excesses in doing so. One need simply cast their eye over the desolate wastelands of Aclan, despoiled by those that cared not for the environment but for the resources underneath, to see the merits in allowing corporations to self-regulate. We must not permit a political dynasty to arise that serves the needs of the privileged few at the expense of the many.
Nor can I lend my support to the Autonomist faction that would seek to utilise Governor Moreau to advance their own interests. Just as we must ensure that private entities are held in check by considerate legislation, we must also ensure that the Federation is capable enough to hold its member states to account when they fail to aspire to the standards that we, the people, expect of them as we would when the Federation is seen to fall short of our expectations. Our member states already possess enormous freedom to conduct their own affairs, and I fail to see how further delegation of power to the member states beyond what they already have will lead to a more harmonious Union in the long term. The Union is a compact between Federation and Member State, and only through co-operation and understanding of the responsibilities of one another can the Union function as intended.
This Federation belongs to all of us. We are all stakeholders in this grand experiment, and it is through our combined efforts, our valiant hearts, and our collective indomitable spirit that we will forge a brighter, more perfect future for all those fortunate to be in the Union and to those in the stars beyond that yearn for a better life.
I would encourage all citizens to register with the Federal Administration Election Commission to avoid any undue delay in your ability to make your voice known at the highest echelon of our great, resilient democracy. The opportunity to participate in selecting those that lead us sets us apart from our neighbours and adversaries in New Eden and grants us all unrivalled strength as a result. Let us flex this strength together, whomever you cast your vote for, and show the cluster that our way of life truly is the way forward for all mankind.
For Liberty and Justice and Freedom!
