Actually, no.
Yeh. Kick it off properly and itâll end eventually.
Seems we can find common ground after all.
Thatâs the first feasible solution Iâve heard so far.
Still waiting for the interesting one.
Think of it like the old curse about interesting times, and I think youâll find itâs the only workable solution that fits.
Kick it off properly using a rubber chicken?
Itâs getting bleak again. Donât make me go full Gallente cheerleader for peace up in here.
Remove the stargates between Heimatar/Metropolis and Devoid/Bleak lands.
And tell CONCORD to go suck a lemon.
Wow. Someone wants the war to go right through Providence⌠ah well, not like anyoneâd notice.
Might want to get that out of the way sharpish then. Providence is on the chopping block for the nth time, isnât it?
Well, you could go through the Ammatar Mandate, have that be the primary warzone, no ?
I think we can all agree that Mizzy and Arrendis are not going to be on the debate team for the Republic should negotiations actually commence. Perhapas @Elsebeth_Rhiannon has some insights. Her disappointment with the discussion thus far is apparent.
The operative word in my view. Thereâs been a lot of discussion of what should be on the table to negotiate, but hilariously, in over 550 posts no has yet to provide any reasons why they would want to be at the negotiating table in the first place for either side.
Why would the Mandate be the primary warzone? They might be Imperial lapdogs who give fealty to Ardishapur, but theyâre also, you know⌠obvious. Thatâs a front long-prepared for attack on both sides.
You mean other than where Aldrith said (before implying exactly the opposite) that this topic shouldnât be taken to represent proposals between the Republic and the Empire, but just us capsuleers having a discussion?
Because that wasnât part of what was asked. Hypothetically, the reason for talks has been established.
Well thatâs the funny part isnât it? Itâs like a paradox in this thread, the result of discussion in assuming that the talks have taken place is that the talks would not have been established in the first place!
Actually⌠ya I do see your point on that.
Itâs more of an experiment to see if capsuleers can come up with coherent thoughts that do not involve âblow it all upâ or âooh, shinyâ. Most are failing miserably.
But explosions are shiny!
But really, Aldrith, the big stumbling block here is the trust issue. You say simultaneous emancipation of all slaves would cause economic chaos, and thatâs certainly not an unreasonable statement. Staggered emancipation would need a)a reasonable means of determining priority, b)a time-frame thatâs long enough to lessen the economic upheaval that would likely hit both economies, while still as short as possible, and c)be accompanied by a cessation of attempts to indoctrinate (ie: Reclaim) those awaiting emancipation until such time as they are in a position to engage voluntarily, or not engage.
But all of those hinge on trust. If we canât trust you, then we canât be sure the priorities are being fairly assigned. We canât be sure your time-frame is reasonable. We canât believe that youâre not continuing the attempts at brainwashing. And I canât tell you how to overcome that. Because any proposal either side could come up with to build trust⌠could just be a deception to get our guard down.
Thatâs what your people have wrought: we will likely never trust you. Any gesture, any overture, is a trap. And kindness is a lie, covering for a hidden knife. If there were some way to establish that the Empire and its minions could be trusted, then there might be room to seek common ground. But right now, nothing you can offer isnât just as likely to be a trap. For all any of us know, youâve been lying for years about disliking slavery. Isnât that exactly the kind of âlong gameâ the Amarr are supposed to be good at?
Find a way to build trust, or all the discussions in the world fall apart in a cloud of suspicion and paranoia.
