Add Ukrainian Localization

In the EVE online universe, there are a sufficient number of pilots who communicate in Ukrainian, but are not able to play a comfortable game due to the lack of localization.

Ukrainians are quite independent people and could do the translation of the game on their own, if it were not for the EULA rules prohibiting interference with any game files, including localization.

I want to invite you to start localization in Ukrainian through the volunteer system. I can assure you that this will cause additional interest in the game for beginners.

No offense meant, but cant you just use russian?

It’s like telling Japanese or Koreans to “use Chinese”

Russians allow themselves to distort translations in many moments, especially if there is an opportunity to humiliate Ukrainians, they take advantage of it. I consider it an insult to use the language of the nation, which aims to exterminate another state and nation.

I have one single question, there are dozens of people who apply to voluntarily create comfortable conditions for themselves without any monetary reward for a commercial project.

Why this idea has been met with opposition for more than 5 years?

Researching all possible topics about localization, I met the same person who creates resistance to this topic. This is not normal.

There is no need to equate Ukraine with Russia, these are two different states, languages, and cultures.

No one even asks you to do a full localization with voice acting, although I can provide you with resources that will do it for you also for free, give it a chance.

At the same time, let’s be frank, the number of replicas for voice localization is ridiculous.

offer to keep it updated and translated with each new iteration of patches etc…

Are there any more pressing issues that might require your attention?

There are enough people ready to play this wonderful game, but due to the lack of localization in the Ukrainian region, people are not interested in participating in the project.

I am sure that the game has at least a thousand active players and about as many less active ones.

And now, in the context of the extremely high demand and attention to products in Ukrainian in Ukraine, this can make a good advertising campaign at the expense of the same volunteers.

Doubt it would have a noticable impact.
100% of the Ukrainians I know are perfectly able to play the game in either english or russian if they would like to, most are quite smart people. Some do prefer not to use the russian localization, even understandable given the circumstances. But thats not CCP’s business.
Using english will not prevent a single one of them from playing the game if he/she is interested in it.

Hell, even to all of my german corpmates I highly suggest to play the game with english settings because a unified language and standards when naming things like bookmarks, fittings, using fleet comms or names of NPCs, modules and terms from EVE mechanics make the game so much easier to learn and to cooperate with others.

So if you like to have an ukrainian version for attracting more players, highly doubt it would be worth the effort. Those possibly interested are already covered with options quite well.
If you want it for pride/cultural reasons (aka to have a ‘not russian’ button), gather support for it among the ukrainian community and offer volunteer services to CCP for translating and maintenance.
