Adhamhnon For CSM 21; It's about the "Little Things"

My EVE story

I first started EVE back in 2004. When I started, I got heavily into mission running, made some friends, and started a Corp that my partner still runs today. I attended the first Fanfest, met some great people, and it really opened my eyes to the wider gameplay of New Eden. Most notably CYVOK, who along with some others, recruited me to join Celestial Horizon and Ascendent Frontier back in the early days, and travel to null sec. From helping build the first player outpost, to fighting in the some of the largest space battles at the time, to helping build the first Titan, great friends, and an ingame home were made. After the end of ASCN, I was a bit adrift. Played the game on and off, then got heavily into exploration, and living in low sec. A completely different experience to what I had done previously. As with many vets, the interest and activity ingame waxed and waned over the years. Then last year, when a part of my life changed, I decided to really get back into the game, and find a home again. I joined Iron Whales, and Goonswarm Federation. (I know, grrr goons) I was a bit trepidatious at first, knowing Goons history, but I haven’t once regretted the decision. I found what I had been missing since ASCN, a group to not only play with, but play for. So much of this game is about the connections, stories, and people we meet along the way, and I found what I needed to really find new life in the game.

What I do.

I’ve done a lot of different things in EVE. Mission runner, explorer, reluctant miner, builder, pvper. While I don’t consider myself an “expert” on anything, I’ve tried to experience as much as I can. Variety I find, and not just doing one thing, can really keep you from burning out. That said, I specialize in things like logistics, which is helped by my r/l background. Exploration is still a big part of my everyday gameplay, as is industrial work, and fleet pvp.

Why am I applying?

I love this game. It’s the one game that keeps me coming back, for over twenty years now. From the first Fanfest, to the one this year, I’ve met some really great people, and made some good friends. There are some things I think could use some work, and I would like to advocate for those things for our community. PVP is a huge part of EVE, but it isn’t all that EVE is. There are a lot of people with strong opinions on how EVE PVP should be fixed or changed, but that is not my focus. I want to focus on some of the “little things” (maybe some not so little), that will help and encourage players, both new and vet, to keep playing, to make the game a better place. One of the changes made in the last year that I’ve heard many people say was one of the best was very simple… a compress hotkey. Something so simple, but made gameplay better for so many players.

So here’s some things I’d advocate for if you choose me for CSM:

  • Stack All Hotkey either on it’s own, or attached to compress all. (Anyone at Fanfest this year may have seen me ask for this at the Little Things session)

  • An ingame branching materials tree for construction, instead of having to scroll through blueprints or use an out of game system.

  • Improvements to corp management and ACL tools

  • Cancel scan button for when you launch probes and realize you need to move them.

  • Greater depth in mission running. The missioning system today isn’t that much different than 20 years ago, and it could use more depth, less repetitive content, and more avenues of content for mission runners.

  • Greater depth in exploration. More than just “hack these cans for loot”. Mysteries to unravel, journeys to take, new things to discover.

  • T2 Edencom Jump Freighter for my Logistics people!

  • More Stories. More lore. New Eden has so much depth that could be explored for content and deeper storylines. More chances for each player to take their own place in that story.

These are the kind of ideas I would like to advocate for. I want to make the game better for everyone, not take away from someone else to make my gameplay better. Those are the kind of changes I would be against on the CSM.

What can you expect from me?

I want to hear from you! What little things have you thought of that might make the game better that maybe no one has thought of before. What would improve your quality of life in the game? Sometimes the simplest thing you can think of could have been overlooked by everyone else, so share it.

The other thing you can count on is that I’m not afraid to stand up for what I think. If I think someone is advocating for change simply because it hurts another’s gameplay, I’ll oppose it. We all deserve a chance to play EVE the way we enjoy the sandbox, whether it’s PVE in high sec, pirating in low sec, diving through wormholes, or building in null sec. There is no “right” way to play, just the right way for you.

We need much more people like Adhamhnon to drive change where it’s needed. We need to foster quality of life changes that make sense, and most importantly work together to make this game much more new player friendly so there’s a future generation that keeps the gaming going for decades to come. With that requires change, and Adhamhnon is someone I would trust to see it through.

Hello @Adhamhnon, what about this?

  • The connection between EVE Online and EVE Vanguard

Do you have any expectations what that could be, how it could work? I am aware there is nothing tangible yet, but it’s rather inevitable if I red FC correctly.
