I’ve found many topics like this one, but nobody got a solution (except enabling ipv6, but mine is all good). Basically the AIR, in-game shop and other stuff are not working due to timeout issues. System: Windows 11. I’ve tried VPN, but it had no effect.
Tech support didn’t help, just sent me to ISP, but since I’ve tried VPN, the problem should not be with ISP (and I couldn’t find any issues with ipv6 or v4).
Network tool data:
Connections Ping Success
binaries.eveonline.com 100%
cdn.evevanguardtech.com 100%
tranquility.servers.eveonline.com 100%
live.chat.eveonline.com 100%
status.production.services.evevanguardtech.com 100%
singularity.servers.eveonline.com 100%
gateway.production.services.evevanguardtech.com 0%
I see that the last could not be pinged, but cannot find the reason. tracert dies on some node, but maybe this is expected (again, tech support didn’t explain what’s wrong in all these data).
Maybe someone who had similar issue could help? Or someone has any idea on what to check?
Did they tell you to ping those for debugging or how do you come to the conclusion you need to ping them?
A server does not need to reply to a ping, you know? It doesn’t have to support the ping protocol at all and can still do and server all the other stuff. Also all your links here are linked as http links. I highly doubt that those are http-servers at all.
If i remove http from the link, i can seemingly ping them all like you…meaning the last one doesn’t answer. Nevertheless i have no problems whatsoever with the game. So it can still be your machine, your router, your ISP, something in the line to the game servers. And also you VPN might not be configured correctly or something.
If you have a laptop and a mobile phone, you could easily to a quick change of the ISP and test the connection. Or you could carry your laptop to a friends house and test it with a different ISP.
Or use another computer in the household to check if maybe the network stack configuration has issues like some crucial port is blocked or you VPN not covering all relevant ports.
In the past i had occasionally difficulties to connect to the chat server. It would fix itself after a few minutes or after a relog. So if you have a persistent problem, then you need to change more stuff around to figure out what it could be.
That’s why their response was so useless - I don’t know if it should be pingable or not.
The problem is definitely local, I agree, but I have no idea what could be wrong. I’ve also tried updating Python, but with no result. The issue should not be with the network itself, but with some local config.
Ok, I’ve found the problem (thanks, Claude!). Not sure if it’s gonna help anyone, but for me it was missing “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\services” file.
If you are diagnosing the same issue, I suggest using Opus instead of Sonnet - it worked way better for me.
