Allow ALPHA players to pay for the game!

Yes and? Things get more expensive.

$20 USD Omega sub gets you 720 hours worth of gameplay per month. If you can’t find the time to play somewhere in that 720 hour window, that’s on you….

Run on sentence structure makes this difficult to comprehend. Should read;

Eve Online started as a subscriber only game. In 2018 – in an act of desperation – they dropped the subscriptions to omega, and introduced the “Free to Play” version as limited alpha accounts.

Have fun!

I do. If it says “Free to Play” I expect to play for free and Alpha clone is exactly that, free to play.

I don’t. If someone wants to pay money for a Free-to-play game it doesn’t matter to me.

I hardly have any problems or stress. I simply want to wait for the game to prove to me that Omega is worth paying for.

I don’t see the need or purpose. If I spend money on microtransactions I don’t see why I wouldn’t spend it on Omega.

Alpha was invented for players to slowly fall in love with EVE and move on to Omega. No need of another scheme to make EVE Pay to Play, Omega is enough.

Whoa. The Omega player is continuously paying for the right to use such modules/ammo….even if he doesn’t use them. Having a ‘one off’ fee for their use strikes me as akin to cheating, as you’d be getting use of said item without that continuous payment for the right to use.

You would effectively have an unfair advantage, if you can mix and match which OMEGA bits you pay for whilst genuine OMEGA players pay regardless.

The only way to effectively defend a subscription based service (if you feel inclined to do so in the first place) would be to actually pay for said subscription. I feel that in 2025, everybody and their mom has been trying to consume a monthly piece of my income and I’m actually done with the concept.

I do not feel this so called “meaningful destruction” anymore since I’ve grown cynical about owning-but-not-owning a database record in the post-crypto era. I will not pay for a game that wants me to either pay money ON TOP of my subscription fee, or waste subscribed time executing PVE routines while all I want to do is pew pew.

It is up to the game to entice me to play, not up to me to validate why I don’t.

Something like SWTOR? Not sure that would work with a game like EVE. They already have small chunks of Omega time you can purchase, albeit it’s one of those situations where you pay less actual money, but you’re paying a premium for that smaller time window.

What EVE does need is for Omega to be able to train at least 2 characters at the same time as the default, even if one is training at alpha speed. They upped the price but gave players no extra value. And people just accepted it without complaint. But some TEMPORARY booster is included in an anniversary edition and people lost their minds.

So, abusing classified
information. That’s a fresh charge.

And on that, they’re all guilty.

That’s a statutory sentence.

I know. Two years in the brig.

So, instead of the original charge and a
possible sentence of two years in the brig,

they’ve been found
guilty on another charge,

and got an entirely different
two years in the brig.

That’s going to be a
great comfort to them.

I’ll bring them around, and break the news.

Then don’t play EVE. Or PLEX your account. You can play this game for free. Fully free. Not free on some limited scale. What other game offers such option?

Taking out loans, and/or opting into other subscription-based services is your choice. Nobody is forcing you into it.

CCP is being generous letting Alpha accounts play on an unlimited basis. They don’t have to do it, and it wasn’t always the case. You Alphas get to log in and do your thing every day and you still complain?

Just pay for a sub or grind the Plex for a sub.

Alphas. Give ‘em an inch, and they’ll take a mile….

Alpha subs already have the ability to pay for Eve Online. It’s called an Omega account.

Don’t think I’ve ever agreed with Dryson before.

Dryson are you feeling ok?

No, Meridan. It’s not a complaint. A complaint would be somewhat emotional. I am not emotional. I am apathetic, and indeed… I am not playing at the moment.

It is an ultimatum. For my return, should CCP regard it important (I have no illusions that they do). I am simply not paying a subscription fee anymore. I have paid enough over the course of time to my mind, how you gauge CCP’s supposed “generosity” really isn’t my concern.

You see, my best friend has two sons, one is aged 9 and the other is 6. They also have difficulties whenever the other gets something for free that previously wasn’t. Where at some point I had some understanding for people wanting a level of inter-player fairness and for veterancy to mean something, I’ve realized later on that this mentality is only serving one party.

And that would be Pearl Abyss.

Please don’t. The game is better off without pretentious, demanding, entitled and childish freeloaders. We don’t need you, you’re not special and no one cares. Just leave quietly, we don’t need to hear your mewling.

You seem to take this very personal. Those are four very assusatory adjectives.

No, you want me to take this personal, you need me to. But it’s not, you’re just another clown who thinks the game, devs and society in general owes them something. They don’t.

Yeah, I guess different guys have different points at which they draw the line. From where onwards the game is simply not worth the subscription fee anymore. (For me, it happens to be the size of updates. Currently it’s just annoying to sometimes come on to find ca 5GB updates per week. Beyond that it’s questionable for me if I will continue to play it. I simply don’t support wasteful data usage and a game is not an essential component of my life, so it’s not difficult to stop playing. A lot of guys don’t share my viewpoint regarding data consumption, and that’s fine. It’s my thing. It is where my line gets drawn if it becomes too heavy).

So, I get it, Inxentas, you have your lines and it’s important to you. Is it not viable for you to PLEX your account though? If you find the right kind of activity, it shouldn’t become a ‘‘second job’’ type of thing.

Oh right. Entitlement. You should get into politics. They love that word over there.

And yet it does. Might be possible, but “possible” is a few steps removed from “enjoyable” for me. I agree that everyone has their own break-off point and mine lay around Marauders/Dreadnoughts.

In a sense that I’m aware I technically could throw 1001 Rifters at a wall and call that PVP, but having my PVP ride grow with me requires more money exponentially with every step. So in the end, I got bored of small stuff… but couldn’t afford to lose the big stuff. Kinda like real life. So I quit.
