With Industry its best to treat as a means to an end. It is a time sync and something that can be done while you’re elsewhere, mining, pvping, trading, exploring or pveing.
Industry’s public gross profits are dependent on demand and market sway. That is, exclusively looking at the market and whats being publicly buy, sell and contracted.
Industry breakdown into several levels:
Mining, Planetary Interaction, Salvaging, Hacking (Data Cores, T2 BPC, FW BPC, Blue Drops, Red Drops or material components) Gas, Ice
Refineries (NPC or Players) and reprocess efficiency
Creating T1 Items, T2 Components or Element Production
Researching Time and Material levels for BPOs
Copying BPOs to make limited run BPCs for production or invention
Converting T1 BPC into T2 BPC via a chance invention mechanic and data cores
General advice if you’re strictly focusing on industry as a source of income is to:
- Sell Ores
- Sell Minerals if more profitable
- Sell consumables like Ammo, Nano Repair Paste or Capacitors.
- Ore mining is a time investment of getting resources over buying it at market value.
Its probably been recommended here by someone else buy you make profits from making agreements with corporations or players who want stuff at a lower cost.
Buying minerals ofd the market will also be at a lost and not sustainable unless the value of minerals drop below buy at cost. Which, you may as well wait for a blue moon and pigs to fly by then.
