The Guristas get to be a faction and they only have 9 stations! The Syndicate has 66
The Guristas have 9 freeports accessible to capsuleers, and a multitude of installations, shipyards, and operatives embedded all over all under a largely unified command structure.
The Intaki Syndicate was a bunch of entirely independent stations with their own governments and laws, that slightly co-operated to set up a mutual banking and police system.
That’s fair. Though if we are counting all the rats and combat sites the Guristas likely have more ships then the Caldari Navy ![]()
Not sure where you are getting that from.
Thousands of Guristas battleships are destroyed by capsuleers every day. Their industrial production must be inconceivable
Naturally the rate at which they are destroyed is a consequence of the imperfect simulation, but the Guristas are an interstellar organization that manages entire supercapital shipyards. Their capabilities aren’t quite on the level of the empires, but these are criminal superpowers in their own right, not small time gangs.
But this is all besides the point. The validity of the Guristas being a faction does not rest on their station count, meanwhile it is the only thing that the Intaki Syndicate faction is representative of. They are a union of stations, now in the process of becoming stationless as its membership scrambles to evacuate all their shiny things. What exactly would that in-game faction represent?
There is also Intaki nationalists on Intaki Prime. The Intaki are one crisis away from becoming the Caldari 2.0 and leaving the Federation. In which case the stations of Syndicate would ally themselves with Intaki Prime.
but obvioulsy the opposite of all that is happening ![]()
And Mordu’s Legion! They are also disaffected Intaki. There is so much Intaki Empire teasing in the lore
Not sure where you are getting the Intaki ethnostate thing from lol.
Intaki Prime, while having elected an autonomist assembly, is still under a very strict Federal military occupation (tho who knows how Moreau’s election may change that), and neither they nor the original membership of Mordus Legion (Nearly 200 years ago) are really all that relevant to Silphy and her little cartel, or the residents of the syndicate region.
Any assumption that every organization with some intaki heritage is going to voltron together into a unified empire is, at this point, entirely speculative.
And any talk about an intaki supraethnic unification kinda misses the point that the majority of the Intaki Diaspora, while acknowledging their heritage, don’t necessarily consider themselves loyal to Intaki Prime or the Ida or the identity of Intaki itself
And also ignores that the other Intaki heavy memberstates often found themselves more and more at odds with Intaki Prime itself over the years and the Fed occupation of the Intaki system never changed that.
At best if Intaki manages to secede, they might take the Agoze, Brarel, and Annancale with them, but Vey, Frarie? Anything else? Unlikely and it’d… not go well. Despite the issues, the Fed military occupation of Intaki is no where near equivalent to what happened with Caldari Prime, and the Intaki of Intaki Prime as a whole have a history of diplomatic outcomes and steady stoic moderation.
And kinda with Remi more broadly in regard to the Syndicate as an organization. It was always presented and portrayed first and foremost as a loose aglomeration of station governors, criminal elements, a small but professional but still volunteer police force in the Intaki Space Police, and freelancers all jammed together in a fractious confederacy with a figurehead leader in the form of Silphy. They achieved a pseudo-nationstate status on recognition but were never unified in the same way that any of the empires or even pirate factions are.
They were never going to be the heralds of an Independent Intaki System nation, nor an Intaki Ethnostate(in fact we know in writing and by word of dev that the people that live in the Syndicate region is a very diverse population even on the Syndicate organization aligned stations). This isn’t to say your character(s) can’t believe it could have, but purely out of character with the info we have, it was never gonna be a thing
Yeah, for those of us who’ve been RPing the Intaki independence thing for the last 20 years, the ethnostate has never been the focus.
There was a corp called Intaki Pure, but they were created by early ILF leadership as a plot device, an extremist foil for the ILF membership to react to.
It’s something I’ve talked about before, but it’s why in all of my own forum posts, etc you’ll never see me talk about the “Intaki people” in terms of our political objectives, but instead I talk about “the people of Intaki”, regardless of who they are.
Think civic nationalism, not ethnic nationalism. At least that’s how it should be applied to the ILF and IPI.
It’s been mentioned a few times already recently, but the demographics of the Syndicate will also have been very mixed. Conflating the Intaki and the Intaki Syndicate is something people have done for as long as I can remember, though.
And lastly, Mordu’s Legion and the Syndicate didn’t actually get on that well. There was some animosity there, but whether this was resentment on the part of the Syndicate towards those Intaki who did actually side with the Caldari during their war for independence, partly prompting the Exile which sealed their own fate, I suppose we’ll never really know.
This is true.
it’s also what undermines the State’s position and response.
if Silphy en Diabel is guilty (she is), the very nature of the wider Syndicate as a loose collective means that it unlikely any guilt goes beyond the borders of Poitot.
Instead the State is doing what the Federation has always done in the past, and that is to tar everyone with same brush and impose collective punishment to a largely innocent (of this specific wrongdoing) people.
Yeah, this is what is pissing me off about the Caldari. They have every right to bring Silphy to justice if she actually did what they say she did. That doesn’t justify the occupation of the entire region and taring every Syndicate station as if they take direct orders from Silphy.
And when I’m talking about Intaki nationalism its not some racial nazi thing any more than Caldari nationalism is a racial thing. Intaki Prime is an ENTIRE PLANET it doesn’t have just one race on it. The Intaki Collective would be like a mini federation, just like the Caldari state is.
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s be honest: they traded the Syndicate for Jita. It’s plain as day.
On the other hand, the Syndicate has always dabbled in questionable technology, the wormhole shuttles and Vanguard combat armor being classic examples. I’m very interested to see who steps up to lead them next. I’d just rather it not be the State, since it feels like everything originates from them lately.
The Intaki have always leaned diplomatic rather than aggressive, even under their Ida philosophy. They’ve never really sought to be an empire, they simply prefer staying out of the spotlight. Unfortunately, that approach hasn’t held up very well in recent times.
Its not just the Syndicate who have weird technology. The Intaki have had cloning mind transfer technology since ancient times. I smell the Jove hand in their history, just like every major empire.
Now you know why the State wanted to get their hands in Intaki prime
I’ll contest this actually because the ‘Syndicate Light Suit’ was a base warclone dropsuit design, not intended for vanguard specifically, that Arkombine and Vanguard stole the designs for. Syndicate didn’t design it for the vanguard If you re-read the original article that mentions it.
Everyone has continued to use warclone tech in varying capacities in setting, and once again warclone purges were not and were very far from being universal.
The two events are tied by the terrorist attack, but other than that, not at all?
The State could, entirely legally, torch all of Syndicate to the ground if it so desired. Its stations are only party to one CONCORD signatory in any way, and that is with the State itself. It would not need to “trade” anything with CONCORD.
Unless you meant that the “trade” was from FC themselves, feeling obliged to force through the absurdity that was the Jita handover without any lore justification, and deciding to give the State a new region as a way to balance things out.
I think “they” that is being referred to is the Syndicate leadership. What is happening in Jita is the same sort of scheme that Silphy en Diabel use to take over Poitot station. She creates an artificial crisis, brings in the Sisters, then maneuvers behind the scenes to take it over.
Great for Silphy, not so great for the rest of The Syndicate!
I’m not happy with the storyline either. At all.
I’m never a fan of dumbing down a setting by removing a faction, and especially not when it’s forced by the developers instead of happening through player choice and player actions.
Had we been given a real chance to support the Syndicate or alter the outcome I couldve been happy with it, but the way they wrote it came across as a very quick removal of a faction that had a lot of writing behind it for no real reason.
