So, I have an idea for the AT I’m not sure who’d be the right person to pitch it to but I’m honestly surprised they haven’t done it, or even for something like the Abyssal 1v1’s or 3v3’s etc (if they ever decide to bring those back).. ok so instead of a list of banned ships, why not have a single hull type like “Gnosis” or “Praxis” (you can do this with other hulls though I think those would be the more interesting ones as they are essentially blank canvases) and each team can fit them however they wanted. Would that not be the most actually interesting test of fitting/flying/teamwork skill? And its not like you’d know how the other side is going to fit there’s other than inferring things like “ok so we know so and so is pretty much known for brawling comps so they’re likely going to be more inclined to go that route.. but wait what if its SO obvious that is the case that the smarter thing to do would be the exact opposite?” Or would you prefer to go for some type of jack of all master of none comp? I think the amount of possibilities would be huge
You mean like the Amarr Succession Trail Championship? The tournament gives the teams a set of ship restrictions and they have to come up with fittings and strategies instead of leaving it to the teams to find comps from all ships. The ASTC was by far more interesting than any AT because of these special rules.
I’m not familiar with the ASTC but yeah more along those lines, and also since they are doing all this on a special server I think they are leaving alot on the table as far as like what they can do with the actual grid itself to make it more interesting.. For example they could be utilizing things like large collideables and effect clouds which would add an entire extra layer of strategy to everything
Also, as an aside I know CCP are likely not adventurous enough to do this but I know 100% people would love it if they made like a big space soccer field with a Freighter or something in the middle like imagine a big golden Charon and you had one team of red stabbers and one team of blue stabbers and they have to try and bump it to the opposing teams side they can even make it like rocket league and have it explode whenever a point is scored
