Because if it was a PLEX only sale it would just move more people to NOT buy PLEX at any other time than sale time. CCP seem to be moving away from PLEX specific sales and more toward combined packages that are less worthwhile for a PLEX hoarder. Idea being i assume to encourage people to buy PLEX throughout the year rather than everyone waiting until a predictable sale to buy any PLEX.

Why? Are you charging very slightly slightly more than you get in the standard PLEX package? That would be a suspect way to market a soul.
To be honest with you guys I’m not surprised that an Icelandic company doesn’t do anything for a really, really stupid American tradition.

Funny thing is, the holidays really don’t have much to do with black Friday beyond being an excuse to empty the shelves. I learned a few years ago that if stores have any inventory left over at the new year, they have to pay extra taxes on that stuff. Fortunately there’s a holiday where traditionally gifts are given, so stores came up with Black Friday sales to get people to buy as much as they can to empty the shelves as much as possible to avoid paying extra taxes. So ultimately we can blame the government for all the black Friday nonsense.

Last year CCP did a 25% discount on PLEX and this year they do this strange packs… really dissapointing.

I was looking forwad for this moment in 2017 but seems someone came up with the “great” idea that packs are better.
I just hope they dont sell as much packs as they expected to, and that they repeat offers like the one they did on 2016.

Oh, that 2016 Black Friday sale was what finally enticed me to subscribe back to Eve last year.
I found out there is a 15% discount on PLEX via STEAM.
To be able to claim it you have to link EVE Online and STEAM, and launch the game via STEAM.
The loader will update and it will ask you for your main account email.
Then a new account will be available in your loader account list (something with a name like: STEAM:XXXXXXXXXX).
Then you should log into eve account management via Steam and activate your newly steam created account via a confirmation mail.
After all this, you can buy PLEX via STEAM and claim it in the newly created account with the STEAM name.
Legit. I bought a PLEX pack with a 15% discount this Black Friday.
It looks like Black Friday sale failed: all other sales advertised later were usual “price is N% lower till the day X” proposals.
