Blackout Concludes

I literally have LOVED Eve since I discovered it in 2005… and have been witness to the developers slowly killing their own game ever since! Such a beautiful game, so unique from anything else on the market, so much god damn potential to grow into so much more… so fckin sad! Removing the black out and going back to the cancer that has been part of the game’s destruction IS the final nail in the coffin! I have been in denial for a very long time but today I finally accept it! Eve IS truly dying and CCP let it fcking happen! … I say we all join CODE and gank the game out of its f*ckin misery!

The end.

Nope. And it was pretty obvious within a couple weeks that the meta resulting from BO was too unappetizing for the average sub-cap pilot that can be dropped on at any time. So people voted with their feet and went elsewhere for their fun.

The PvP club that has to stoop to seal clubbing PvE fits to feel good about themselves of course are going to throw enough salt to flavor everyone’s popcorn for a good while now that it has been announced that effort required in hunting is scheduled to go back up.

Not sure why the drama around blackout.

The game was in a shabby place before blackout and will just return to that again. The game was not fixed with blackout and the game is not going to be fixed by reverting it.

The game has many fundamental flaws that cannot be fixed with a single patch or expansion. In addition to the technical difficulties of changing legacy code, the game also has a player base with widely different values and reasons for playing. CCP seems unable to figure out who their core audience are. So we see this back and forth, trying to satisfy both PvP’ers and PvE’ers. CCP just seem to have no clear vision for their game.

The game is not going to magically improve, unless we see some drastic management changes within CCP. Just play the game for what it is, knowing that eventually the game will die like any other game.

The vision of EVE: Forever was an interesting ambition. However, I don’t think CCP is the company to realize that.

The point is CCP just showed the problems will NEVER be fixed. Null will not allow them to fix it.

Has nothing to do with null corps “allowing” anything.

This is all on CCP and their own inability to improve their game. We have seen this over and over again, and at this point people should stop being surprised every time it happens.

Yes we have seen this over and again. CCP try to change something, null throw a tantrum organise for members not to log in and threaten CCP.

CCP cave into null sec.

Don’t stop to say bye

Why with Alpha I can be a parasite just like a null sec player and give CCP as much as their game is worth.

So, all ratter and miner hunters are a bit salty.

Though I hate to agree with something from this particular poster, he has touched upon an issue here that I think is fairly significant.

CCP has spent years driving people into big alliances, big ships, and Null; with the game mechanics that specifically encourage those choices. And unfortunately, “big organized blocs with lots of subs” also have the power to organize their members, stop subs, stop Plexing, stop logging in and otherwise send a very big, noticeable “we’re not happy with these changes” signal to CCP.

Companies can’t afford to ignore “vote with your dollars” behaviour from a large customer faction.

Unfortunately CCP has let it go to the point where Null represents too much of the dollar-voting power of EVE, and so they are stuck in a sort of Catch-22 (IMO). They need to reduce the power/concetration of Null, but if they do that too noticeably they end up triggering a “let’s play chicken” backlash from Null subs/plexers/players.

Blackout was never part of a cohesive plan by CCP, but rather a cover story and reason to explain and give them time to try and fix all the problems with local. They probably were also somewhat intelligent enough to realize that they could also use that time to data mine the hell out of the game and spot botting trends/methods. Actually addressing the issues of multiboxing afk site runners/miners in null and the damage they do the ingame economy is probably too much of an issue for CCP to fix. PA wants our money and, as they have so historically shown in BDO, botting and afk behavior is fine AS LONG AS YOU GIVE THEM MONEY. Cash beats commitment; profit margins beat promises.

Blackout never directly affected me, except for the large decrease in server population. I did understand how it affected different NS people, however, and I could understand their anger/dismay. That being said, it was and remains the behavior of certain types of players that are the root cause of much of EVE’s problems, whether it is due to the direct effect they have on gameplay themselves or due to the ineffective development flailing we see from CCP as they try to fix their game. CCP devs allowed for certain players to be able to destroy the game and perhaps the best we can do is hope they can now find a way to slow down the process.

Yes, it’s sad watching the game get more and more messed up over the years.

However I gotta say I laughed pretty hard when I read the part about joining CODE and ganking the game to death.

Yes. He can do that of course. Let’s see if he will.

This is an interesting turn and all, but I’m not resubbing until this whole Age of Chaos crap and all the changes that came with it get thrown in the dumpster where it belongs.

This just means that these “worthless parasites” worth more than you. Or those like you.

Nice to see your real worth once in a while? :smirk:

Why couldn’t CCP have a prepared detailed statement and/or vid announcing this important change and posted it in here immediately following their Berlin announcement instead of us players having to rely on fellow players for information on what is happening? Could have easily typed a news release and produced a video ahead of time and have it ready for release following the announcement in Germany.
Currently, it feels more like a panicked reaction to revenue loss than any planned development scheme.

Would you please stop insulting people for their preferredgame style or paying methods? Do you ever hear me calling you an asshole for behaving so. No, you wouldn’t.

You get a weekend of market chaos this way.

Equal to a Null sec player.

Unfortunately according to CCP I don’t exist.

Disappointing to say the least. Finally felt like we were getting somewhere.

Guess it’s back to getting as many people into capitals as possible and having a couple of big fights a year.
