So in your world, every one accused of a crime is guilty, because no one ever makes a mistake?
I my world, lawyers and politicians doing lawyer/politician stuff is automatically suspicious.
Hopefully someday you outgrow this bigotry and you learn to judge people as people, not job titles.
This mega-corporation that you think is so powerful . . . it took all the Kingâs horses and all the Kingâs men two weeks to clear up a simple misunderstanding? It would be a ludicrous story, except for the enthusiasm which you and your boosters are using to promote it.
You are calling me a bigot for not trusting politicians? Are you for real?
Yes, it took them two weeks to talk to all of us, go back and look at things, decide what to do and work out all the details. This was also over Easter (which was April 21), so there were holidays involved too. That it was resolved in two weeks is a miracle - this could have easily taken months, if not years, to resolve. CCP deserves credit for fixing it as quickly as they did. I doubt it could have gone any faster.
Yes. This was the first time in my life Iâd ever been accused of being dishonest. In fact, Iâve made my reputation by being the guy who is fair and honest - even guys who literally hate me have defended my integrity. Iâve had political opponents praise me for it, and even had the Washington Post compliment me for running a âcivil, thoughtful raceâ, which is something you never see for someone of my political party. Iâve given no one any reason to doubt what Iâm saying is true, but you immediately question my integrity because of what I do for a living.
Yeah, thatâs bigotry. I hope you outgrow it.
In any event, Iâm done talking about this stuff at this point. If folks arenât going to support me because of this, so be it.
A lot of people find any kind of forum not a top notch social media medium to engage with each other. Thatâs why we have things like CSM discord, or in my case, my own discord. I not only read so much feedback from it but even do live chats often. Perhaps we need to be more transparent on how you can get in touch with us. In my case, Iâm one of those rare people who actually answers their Evemails. You could have asked me how you can find me.
You canât look at a CSM memberâs activity in only the forums and then decide heâs not engaging with the community. You should check out my Discord serverâs history to see how much discussion was had. You just didnât know how to get in touch with me, despite that I announced my discord to the public several times.
And this link for the CSM discord.
Your feelings are your feelings. Itâs still makes for a better game.
This is completely false about any of the 6 presentations.
There is a reason CCP pays for 10 people to go to the summit, and makes hours of room for these presentations. Itâs because they are extremely helpful. They already decided itâs well worth the money by giving it more and more slots, so your feelings are ungrounded.
After Blackout (which was too early for CSM 14 to have any input on itâs development), this year has been one of the best years for Eve development wrt stuff that already happened and also thatâs in the works.
You appear to think that ability is not important or needed; that âexpertsâ alone can help shape EVE development in the correct direction
False. I by no means claim CCP take feedback only from the âexpert CSMsâ. If anything I always encourage when CCP casts a wider net to collect feedback from.
Iâm saying whenever you offer good feedback anywhere, itâs not gonna be missed by CCP whether Brisc is CSM or not. Itâs not so hard to follow a bunch of places and trickle feedback up. Any 10-member team among the top 25 candidates will be able to do it. The ability that he advertises with to run for CSM does not distinguish him.
This is true for anyone. I wonât be able to convince Brisc to relay something important for me but not important for him to CCP.
Olmeca, you wrote 844 words; thatâs 4,935 characters in that post.
You know, if youâre running for CSM re-election youâre supposed to put up your own forum post, right?
Yes, I do.
(I was one of the rare candidates who put the so much effort in their forum post last year. 3,258 words 18,949 characters.)
Nobody uses your discord, Olmeca. Nobody has said a thing in there for weeks, and there are some forums and topics that havenât had a discussion in months.
I do think itâs amusing that, as usual, you find a way to hijack every thread and make it about you.
This is not true. As I have repeatedly said, and as I did on CSM 13, I am willing to present player ideas to the Devs, even if I donât fully agree with them, so long as they are well thought out. If elected, I will be representing you, too, Olmeca and you can expect that I will present your feedback as much as anybody elseâs.
Thatâs my philosophy of the CSM. I know it isnât yours, but it is mine.
Self reporting and choosing through either intentional or not intentional bias, results in data and conclusions that run counter to what neutral raw data may show. For example, Dunkâs talk about industry was well presented, but it relied on people responding to a questions in the forums alone. While it relied on a fair number of accounts responding (1000+), it appeared that the numbers didnât match what CCP has said in the past. While his conclusions were that most industrialist were NS, multi account specialist and some other conclusions, CCPâs own data states that many industrialist were other sector and single accounts. Sure, the EFFECTIVE industrialists are specialist, backed with the power of their NS activities, but doesnât indicate the full story and shouldnât be used alone to drive future development ideas.
A RL example would be to explore gun safety/control. You can decide to go to the NRA national convention and have people self report about their gun use and background. You determine that most gun owners are white, rural, and have no criminal record. Many own âassault gunsâ. Your conclusion is that there is no current problem. You then go to a large city and analyze the independent raw data from crime reports and see most violent crimes are committed using guns obtained through âstrawâ purchasing from gun shows or a legal 3rd party; many are simply stolen (or reported as such). You find that most recent mass shootings involve âassault styleâ rifles, many purchased legally. Your conclusion then runs 180 degrees from the that drawn by the data from the NRA. The actual âtruthâ is actually somewhere between the two studies.
The issue is that the CSM has a long record of âspecialistâ members having an innate bias against ideas that run counter to their own. If you are truly suggesting that a widest net possible should be cast for development, then private channels and specialized boards may not be the best way to go. The bottom line is that I donât trust most of the CSM to present or effectively discuss ideas that may run counter to their own or that represents concerns outside of their own playstyle. Past CSM meeting reports back this up, not only from the last one. Having an open, well aired debate on these forums are better than some back channel or snarky NS leaning board.
But, letâs not derail Briscâs campaign thread any further. While not my strongest candidate choice, he still offers value in his willingness to offer open, frequent communication to all players. If other CSM members would follow his practice and communicate out in the open on these forums instead of relying on âspecializedâ boards or channels, as well as if we could know that they would communicate at least some of the ideas to CCP without filtering them ALL out, then I (and many others) could confidently use my votes on other candidates. Past CSM summit notes leaves plenty of room for doubt.
If you didnât realize I made a post about you, then got a criticism about me to which I replied.
You wouldnât think many of the things I defended this year or will defend next year to be well thought-out or well argued. Many others did.
Youâre putting words in my mouth. Many of the things you were proudest of this year - the super EHP nerf, for example - are things I agree with and also campaigned on. We donât always disagree about things that need to be changed in the game, even if we disagree on other things.
No I just know your background.
Most null bloc persons agree with super ehp nerfs. One example or two doesnât change the above generalization.
As long as people exist, who are dumb enough to be manipulated, there will be people who manipulate. But letâs be fair. Without politics, where would all the rich and power hungry psychopaths go?
EVE Online.
BREAKING NEWS:
âRich, white old psychopath man and real life psychopath politician seeks position of influence in video game. Is real life not enough to satisfy his hunger for influence? More news at 11 !â
PS: No, itâs not libel.
Itâs not. Itâs not really funny, either, but hey - you do you.
How about: âReal-life union rep gets appointed to be a player rep in online game. Game company kicks him out under accusations of misconduct. The union rep claims these actions destroyed his life, manages to clear his name, and then quits in disgust. Two years later he decides that it was actually not such a big deal and decides to run again. Playerbase is very confused.â
