The bug was only a problem for a short time, most of the people who multi boxed were on one account trying to get the others to start, so I would say it was about right for 15-30 minutes. It usually takes that long to figure out the issue is bigger than ‘clear cache’ or ‘reset router’ or ‘update gpu drivers’ and the other drivel on the support pages that make no sense when the game worked literally 5 minutes before.

The doom and gloom is largely manufactured by a handful of malcontents to ‘explain’ why they are doing badly in Eve. ‘Some guy with 137 alts’ distracts from their own poor performance and attaches the ‘blame’ elsewhere. As with so much of the whining in Eve, its all someone else’s fault. That, and just sheer envy that others can afford more than one account.
The reality is that the manufactured ‘problem’ of multiboxing is hugely inflated by these people for various reasons. CCP did publish some figures a few years back showing that the average person has 2.4 accounts. From which one can deduce that the majority of people do not have 137 chars online. And bear in mind that people are not necessarily logging in all their accounts at the same time anyway. I myself only multibox about 10% of the time.

Ive got 5 accounts but only one is online at any time when i play as they are all alpha, and were created for one reason only.
The trouble with numbers is they are open to interpretation. For example in my Wrecking Machine char its been noted that there are fewer stations to bash. However this could have all manner of causes…

Stations are more expensive in the first place, and thus a more costly loss to contemplate setting up.

There have been more station bashing groups just wildly destroying all and thus not allowing time for natural re-generation.

Or none of these factors, or a combination of all of them. The trouble with so much data in Eve is that people just pick their own favourite ‘cause’ that suits whatever mood they are in at the time. The forums are full of people mis-representing data. For example an argument over Ventures ganked in highsec completely overlooked the fact that the majority of Ventures destroyed in highsec are by NPCs. You have to have all the facts to properly judge things…and so much opinion is based on not having all the facts.
Yes, these would be interesting - but serve no real benefit other than perking one’s interest.
Are you suggesting the steps provided by large businesses to resolve issues fall into the category of “■■■■ i’ve already tried?”

My opinion on the actual topic at hand. Yeah, I’m fine with that. It would give people an idea of just how few unique players actually play eve though so it’s not really a good strategy for CCP.
BUT, how mayn toons do you personally run at once? maybe you have a PI alt or hauler alt or whatever else that you leave logged in. A lot of people do this. I had 4 active accounts for YEARS and I considered myself a filthy casual. If you’re wanting to know how over-inflated the active users is vs the active toons; I think I wouldn’t want to know that. I realise I contradicted myself there, I mean Realising just how “quiet” the place is in reality might put some people off.
For PvP, five, three are eyes with one tackle and one interdictor. Because so much of the game is nano kitey garbage, the eyes are needed to see where people go in an effort to get the blocking force into place in an attempt to catch anything.
Thought to be honest, I used the alts a lot less ( they are still good for pi ) after skyhooks were added to the game, as knowing where the enemy was no longer such a mystery and as the skyhook forces at least one cruiser to commit to the fight, tackle just needed to get to the grid gets points on and live long enough for the rapid response group to arrive.
I really wish the ESS was changed to have the skyhook mechanic, yeah I get that defending structures 24/7 was not pleasant but it gave a much needed boost to PvP in the game.
I ran 3 combat toons at once, although some say it can’t be done. Worked for me, but I was a bit more motivated back then. Meh…
Then divide active users by 3 for a rough guess of how many people are actually playing the game.
The eve player base has significantly dropped sinc 2015.
Thousands and thousands of player play EVE, you see only a few evrytime you play so what porpuse you want to know how many? So you can say EVE dead?

The game was much more fun back then. You actually felt a feeling of accomplishment because the game was hard. Now you get a reward for just logging in so CCP can up their numbers. Glad you enjoy the game…

So true. When I entered in 2009, there was humming life basically anywhere you did go. Small groups brawling and kiting, camping and roaming all day long.
Today you can travel like 10 Lowsec or 20 Nullsec jumps without anyone but some Ishtar Bot in local (which immediately warps off when someone enters). Or watch 5-Osprey-Homefront multiboxers in High that farm site after site after site. Or Hotdrop cowards spinning BlackOps all day long and jerking off when they finally got a Drake with their CynoProteus and can curbstomp it with 12 Battleships. It’s a shame.
