Well, technically it can be he and have XXY chromosomes mutation, would be in effect sterile.
Most of times but not always; XXY aberration is (relatively) frequent in male cats, although renders them sterile, so three-colored male cats are not impossible, just rare.

All cat owners will pass through that someday. I’ve outlived (as is natural) 5 cats, of which 2 had to be euthanized and 2 suffered sudden deaths, the older one died at 18. Now our 6th and probably last cat (for the time being) is aging too. Such is life when we love beings whose lifespan is shorter than ours.
But as a family friend said,“beloved old cats go and homeless kittens come”.
