CCP is a joke

Okay. But how do you ‘‘lose’’ your token? Or how does somebody else get it? ← That’s how I understood Asgidur’s post.

There is a way to do it very easily, unfortunately I can’t share it on public internet.

just use Password123! and you’ll always be safe and secure!

If CCP said they would give him his SP back, then just be patient. Yes, sometimes it could take a couple of months. If you don’t hear from them for a while, remind them. If they don’t respond, remind them again. Eventually someone will get back. CCP can sometimes be slow, it happens.

You understood it correctly.

Its just a term. In the case of this thread…its basically what we already suspect. A “token” which should remain secure….was not, and somebody else beside the original owner obtained it.

How?….is anybodys guess.

I was expecting Anna to pitch in and explain, but I conjectured 2 scenarios:

1 - Account sharing, CCP always send you an email to confirm access. In this case the attacker must have access to the email. So he probably shared the account and confirmed the code. Here a small chance of legit claim, having 2FA would avoid it, because the new login would ask for a code from the authenticator. I MEAN, the hacker got the entire system, but aimed at the EVE!!!

2 - He used a third party software, the third party software accessed the token used by the client to authenticate you, this token bypasses password / 2FA because you already authenticated yourself. I’m not sure how secure it is, if CCP encrypted it, but a hacker wouldn’t have trouble breaking it, if he’s into it. So here, the noob tried to cheat and got cheated, serve him right.

they got everyhting not only eve stuff i even got strange links from him on discord cos they got that to and the players who was moving stuff out was russians

but again ccp just want as many acc running as they can so to lose one player over i dont know how many was in on this is how they roll they dont give a rats ass about the players who payes for the game only the multiboxers who plex there 20 to 40 acc

i was going to jump on resub my acc and play again but after this hell no if im going to resub my acc cos this is not teh first time ccp takes a big dump on players who pays for the game

now if he was one of the players who got 20 to 50 acc and plex them then they would maybe get there finger and do somthing

what are you on about still got my acc nothing happend to them i just think its sick that again ccp takes a dump on the players who pay for the game and dont plex there 30 acc

you are tripping man xD

i just cant sit here knowing ccp even knows who hacked him and they would rather lose one player then to do somthing about it and maybe lose 4 or 5 players it blows my mind that all they think about is to have as many acc running as they can but i have said what i wanted just wanted to get this stuff out and i have done that now

A multiboxer with 20-40 accounts isn’t likely to hack anybody as he’d be facing a ban and lose all that stuff he put so much time and effort into getting. Those who hack are likely ones with temp accounts, not even actively playing the game, who just want to sell stolen items for real money.

The hackers don’t even need an account in EVE themeselves. Those russians could be the endcustomer of an RMT order. The hacker can directly transfer from the hacked account to the endcustomer and doesn’t need to transfer over an own account or even need to play EVE at all. Also that is why RMT is a bad thing to do. If it happens like this, the buyer is directly verified.

@Fumblee: also if the discord and other stuff is affected, it sounds as if the PC was hacked and not EVE. Quite a difference. I hope that PC is completely reinstalled and not used in the current state anymore.
So they have/had full access to the PC - in that case i wouldn’t worry too much about EVE, but about my bank accounts, email accounts, or whatever priority he might have - gaming would be my last. And also the other devices in the household. Of course i don’t know…might all be sorted and now EVE is left.

Like I said, the only honest PoV about it is the entire PC being hacked and the hacker confirming the email code.

Now, the dude just lost his entire life to hackers, but EVE is the concern, he wants his char back!

Ofc the security team locked that up, the T1 response was just banter, if I were the security team I would freeze that ■■■■ up, the amount of accountability is astounding… Imagine all the parties involved, the investigation, bla bla bla.

That’s if his entire stuff got hacked, I still fail to understand why the hackers aimed at EVE, his life must be boring af.

They didn’t rest at EVE. Discord was also mentioned. My guess would be that they tried to spread to known friends or something. In any case as you said, i would worry about lots of other things before EVE now. But maybe all else is sorted already.

well he got to his main just in time when he couldnt log on to his alt acc and just saw that russian corp jf everything out is what he said and imo everyone who was jumping stuff out is part of it

but yeah i just couldnt stand by and not say anything cos this is just not good enough for ccp they need to do better

how should i know why they only went for his eve maybe that was what they just aimed for and was lucky and got the rest i dont know im just the guy who cant shut up

it just pisses me off they will not do anything about years of traning on his alts that was somthing they could fix easy

@Fumblee bro, I think your friend is lying to you, seriously. You will end making a fool of yourself. Why don’t he come here and tell us what happened?

i dont care really what people out in the world thinks of me

and ofc he is not lying

Id have the inkling to think its an inside job. Sell everything for RMT, then have them “hack” your account, drain everything, then hope that CCP reimburses you at least most of your SP and stuff back and voila youve lost nothing but gained RMT money.

But thats my Eve brain working on overtime.

Another reason you will have to wait is for CCP to trace down where the isk/goods go. The trail can lead to more than just the initial hackers but to those buying the goods, or having them distributed too for various reasons so CCP would want to follow the rabbit trail as far as they can and that WOULD take time to do. So if CCP has said youll get your stuff back you will.

I think you are right, the security team does not need to wait until the investigation is finished to give the dude his stuff back. They just needed to clear him and say, “here you go”.

The dude is not cleared. 3 months is a lot, he’s not getting ■■■■ back.
