You can’t judge whether or not someone is an alt based on KB activity alone. They can be a carebear, they might not have given permission to zkillboard to fetch their kills/losses, and they might have alts that they use for other things.

For example, even though Shipwreck is my first character, he is an industrialist and trader who spends most of his time docked up. Moreover, I have not given zKillboard permissions to fetch his killboard, because why would I? I also have 30+ alts which I use for various activities. However, in spite of this, I do consider shipwreck to be my main because he is my public facing character, and the one that most post people know me by. He might not be the toon that I play the most on (I don’t need to stay logged in on him that much), but he is most certainly who I am in the Eve community.

Anyway, there are indeed people that do post with alts. I know at least one guy who does so in order to make his spies/awoxers look like original characters, some do so because their mains have been temporarily or permanently banned (and they will usually be quite clear who they are- i.e. Ridley Rohan), some are trolls (who tend to be quite obvious that they are trolls), and, yes, we do seem to have some guys using alts in order to engage in dirty debate tactics. What is interesting, however, is just how many times regular forum members get accused of being alts.

I mean, if you’re going to accuse someone of being an alt, maybe you should at least take a peak at their forum history. It’s not fool proof, as some people will post quite a bit on their alts, and people who do very little posting might just be lurkers, but it’s definitely a good place to start.

Speaking of which, I wonder how many lurkers the Eve forums have.

I was advised many, many years ago to only post on the forums on an alt, so as not to arouse the wrath of the forum-dwellers against my main.

These days I couldn’t care less, but I continue to post as Oskar out of habit.

I must say though, it’s gotta be dire straights when you can’t respond or refute points in the conversation any longer, and are reduced to attacking the character and motivation of those who disagree with you.

Did my last post not make sense? Can you actually share any link to statements such as I set out?

From not knowing much at all about CCPs approach to “limited edition” assets, I now feel like I’ve got a much better understanding of how it works, and what to look out for in future. If nothing else, you’ve given me another tool to profit from, so I thank you for that! However, I think it’s a long way from having a good look into the situation and pointing out your misunderstandings to being some kind of mindless zealot. But, to each their own on that point I suppose.

Senior CCP’rs also love pulling absurd player numbers & subscription numbers out of their assholes at meetings with other parties & even do so on open staged meeting so I know for a fact that CCP would not hesitate to drum up fake support for any cause they wanted to see through aswell.

Cept its literally my main? Took a 7 year break, and I never uploaded kill mails to zkills when it was an actual mail. Plus I tended to ransom more than pop as I’d rather have the liquid ISK than have to sell stuff.

While we are on the topic of maybes and mights, I started to ponder, why does CCP not respond to my thread with any of their arguments, but then it dawned on me. Maybe they are! Maybe, they are using dummy alts to respond with to protect their identities.
