CCP Please Stop Destroying EVE

Because they got raised into a world where whining achieves something, where “it’s” always the fault of something else and where self responsibility and introspection doesn’t exist. Just wait and see what’s going to come for literally all of them. They’re the ones who will scream for a big brother.

Excellent question thanks for the interest. My definition of playing EvE “properly” matches brilliantly with my definition of doing other things “properly”. Doing something “properly” to me at least involves exploring your options when presented with a set-back, rather than plopping down on your bum and crying until somebody changes the world so you don’t have to feel nasty failure ever agin.

Applying this theory to EvE would suggest that before assuming your failure to succeed is the fault of the game being broken, you first have a quick look around to see if others are succeeding where you have failed. Like due dilligence before you commit to the idea there’s no way to fix the situation yourself, because if others are succeeding where you failed there is at least a small chance you’ve simply missed a trick somewhere and the game isn’t broken after all.

You see for me, PvP is entirely optional. I’m sure you assume it’s a skillpoint thing and if you bought your way to my SP level everything would be fine and PvP would suddenly be optional for you also. In truth I’d be fine in a rookie ship where you would die in a Titan because I’ve taken the time to learn the game mechanics, and when I face an obstacle I work around it until I understand it enough to go through it.

I’m in the process of training a 1 week old pilot to make millions ratting in 0.1 and 0.2 systems with his Alpha gear. I haven’t supplied him any extra SP or ISK aside from a couple of 3mil practice ships to die in the first couple times. What I have supplied him is knowledge, and the realization that no area of space is scary when you’re equipped with enough situational awareness to understand it. He’s having a blast and I expect him to be fully self reliant by 2 weeks in.

The danger you percieve that keeps you hiding in Highsec is in your own mind, and doesn’t need fixing as demonstrated by the countless people in your position that capitalise on knowledge you haven’t bothered to equip yourself with every day in places you dare not set foot.

All is not lost though. Talk to people who have been where you are instead of despising their advantage, and realise that my week old pilot had he bought his way into a merauder on day one would have lost it on day one and quit playing because he hadn’t learned enough to be safe yet. The ship and modules wouldn’t keep him safe, nor his skillpoints, because they weren’t backed up by knowledge of the game and how it works.

It’s not just a clever thing for vets to say to younger players, player skill really is 100x more important than SP and the evidence is literally all around you. Some hit the wall and stop, some hit the wall and start digging. Who do you want to be? We don’t want EvE to cater to the first type.

If you’re not a newbie you’re even worse at the game than I gave you credit for.

You have 5 solo kills in your 12 year career, the rest you outnumbered the poor sod 20 to 1.

Insurance for ISK, however that wouldn’t be enough despite encouraging more destruction. So if it was to happen, CCP would introduce alternative ISK sources (eg. selling more goods to NPCs), to provide sufficient ISK to support the PVP.

Rigs from player ship destruction, but again, it would need a huge rebalance to sustain rig needs.

For such a fundamental and crazy change, a lot of other crazy changes would be needed to.

your last sentence is the point of my post.

Pretty much exclusively solo newbro player here, sometimes play with 1 friend. I lost a few (expensive) ships in my first couple weeks (about 2 months ago) to low & nullsec gate camps… so… I learned how to safely enter into low sec :o

Mayhaps you’re unaware, but F9 opens a magical window that can tell you where peeps are dying! If it’s lowsec border system, get your cloak+MWD trick ready. Wormholes do things too.

If you don’t want a challenge, that’s what highsec is for. Well, that and WoW.

They’re not trying to destroy the game …
… they’re just destroying your game.

So wait this dude is raging this hard because he can’t do level 5s?

…and he’s worried about gate camps.

He’s going to love it the first time he runs into a actuall level 5 runner that blaps him with a carrier.

No one is forcing you to. You also have the option of going solo and dying a lot.

This would destroy the game more than anything CCP is doing. EVE allows non-consentual PVP. Always has, always will. Don’t like it? Try Hello Kitty Online instead.

Someone in ccp think like this and now is unemployed

I hear blizzard is recruiting for low pay and almost non-existant benefits. They have options for remaining terrible.

That guy knew what he was talking about. But when your whole experience is coming from teamplay it doesn’t perfectly qualify you to preach in a thread about solo play and its viability in dangerous areas.

Lucas lives in a funny world where honour and fair fights are more important than not getting killed. He’d probably throw away his gun if he managed to get into a knife-fight. Because it’d be unfair to just shoot them!

I just wonder how thinks he’s going to convince someone
to throw away his knife so it’s fair and even. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It’s cute.

This is amazing. You’re so awful you think you can make 50-80mil an hour running career agent missions in T1 ships. Or you think the average deep lowsec ratting income is about 5-10 mil an hour. Or secret third option you were trying to use subtle misinformation to appear glib and clever.

The rest of us realise there’s a huge difference between the two and that one dwarfs the average week old Alpha’s income by quite some margin  Even though as you cleverly deduced the two amounts could both be labelled millions. Way to be 8 steps behind everyone else in the room and still manage to have input.

Sadly I didn’t bookmark that post of yours, where your vision of ganking was that people can only attack others with equal ships. Don’t remember if it was ISK-wise or ship-type wise, but that doesn’t matter. What you call “balanced mechanics” is exactly that. You live in a fantasy world and your lack of self awareness is quite astonishing.

But, sure, I too can use different words to talk about the same thing and then pretend I didn’t say what I meanst just by pretending that the words I’ve used mean something completely different … but I don’t, because that’s ■■■■■■■■.

Also please stop this endless whining about people accusing you of something, as if you were a victim of a conspiracy against you. It’s getting old, it’s rather childish and it’s definitely doesn’t fit your … uh … personality.

It’s way too whiny.

Anyhow, I’m interrupting you two.
I shouldn’t be doing that.

Carry on and stay healthy, everyone!
