CCPlease let us mute the asteroid belt warp in dong and jump gate warp tunnel audio

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to reach out to the wider community to get some feedback some of the new (and not so new) audio being forced on all Capsuleer without any option to silence them… Or at least without any viable option.

I’ve received a lot of feedback from fellow capsuleers with a similar message, and that message is please find a way to make it stop. Especially for those belt ratting, getting an obnoxious audio alert every time you warp into each belt is an audio nightmare.

The only method for disabling this seems to be muting all of World Level. At which point you may as well just unplug your speakers, because everything is gone. Ship alert warning noises, gone. That ship you were ratting with after you looked away for a minute, gone… billions of isk, gone.

I am lobbying CCP to get something done but honestly it will be a lot easier if we have community echoing the same message, which is what brings me to these forums.

As a developer of Eve-O Preview (the one by EveOPlus) I have received created a work around to mute these sounds. However, while many multi-boxers have access to this too, it does not make sense for all single boxers to also be required to run an instance of Eve-O preview just to silence these noises.

Ideally, in a part world, third part tools should not be required and it would be good if we can rally some support from CCP to get this solved with an in game option.

I’d rather they just didn’t add these things. tbh, and the little bit of text which says “Asteroid belt 1, Depletion Status: blah” is just as annoying and pointless.

Maybe miners like to know such things when they get to a belt, but I’m mostly using belts as a point to ping off when scouting and it’s at best an irritation.

I think it adds some excitement to the exploration of a new player experience, but for veterans it’s a buzz kill. I’m not against it, just let us turn it off right!

Eve has sound?

A few people did play with sounds but I guess with the way things are going CCP realllllly want us all turning it off.

I’m trying to work with CCP on this one with some traction but also a lot of the same generic replies. I had actually thought it’d be easy to gain more traction once they looked and notices how annoying it is in almost all situations but I guess it’s fair we all need to follow the same processes so just following the motions.

For the time being it seems the best solution is using a third party tool to mute it, but as with all third party tools they refuse to endorse anything and so it’s up to you what you want to do… But we do have this support post to go off which is reassuring. e.g.

“We may, in our discretion, tolerate the use of applications or other software that simply enhance player enjoyment in a way that maintains fair gameplay.“

I would honestly love they just fix it in game, but in the meantime Eve-O Preview Plus is a work around for multi-boxer and single boxer alike. (e.g. single boxer can just hide the thumbnail and get all the benefits such as limiting max FPS and muting these sounds)

Just to follow up on my last reply since an edit feels insincere. I may have misinterpreted and CCP may indeed understand the issue. So I’m trying to stay positive and will have to see what comes back of the investigation. If anyone else feels this is not working how they would expect then I do encourage you all to submit your own bug reports as now is a good time while there are eyes on it. So more tickets, and more voices, is our best way of trying to get it prioritised.

Agreed, there should be a way to disable this sound (and message) when entering a new asteroid belt.
