First, not so large as you might think.
Second, you can’t assume those changes would also be made along with ‘you can boosh capitals’. So you can’t assume the beneficial effects of those changes.
Third: capital move ops don’t tend to have that many people afk while multiboxing.
There’s no fixing EVE while injectors exist, no. And you can burn down the stockpiles, and the supers, but you need to find ways to make the people who have it feel like they’re getting something for what they’re losing, some kind of impressive and really cool experience.
You can get away with anything if you make taking the loss fun. But you have to put in the effort to find ways to make the loss something people feel is a worthwhile trade. Otherwise, you just lose customers.
Right. So if the guy who spent real money to inject up RIGHT AWAY particpated in those SP giveaways BEFORE HE WAS PLAYING…
When you need to appeal to the literally impossible to make your point…
Ok, enough of this crap.
JUMP FREIGHTER HAULING JUST GOT ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE SAFER.
SAFER. AS IN MORE SAFE.
Here, let me demonstrate how:
You take your Rapier and make a safe, well-off-grid from any structures or celestials. Sit cloaked. When you’re ready, decloak, light. JF jumps in. Covops webs it off into warp as it goes streaking toward station/citadel from an unexpected direction where the odds of any bubble EVEN IN NULL are freaking zero, and it docks up happily.
Thirty whole seconds later you recloak the Rapier.
Somehow you seem to have missed the last fifteen thousand posts or so on these boards. You can’t get away with sod all, because there’s only two things Eve players truly hate:
Change, and what they have right now.
There’s no ‘making it fun’ that isn’t going to cause exactly as much salt and apoplexy, so ripping the band-aid is probably the best approach in general. Hell, it’s not like anyone that’d ragequit over it is worth anything anyway.
They’ve lost nothing but instant and broken intel, and gained an exciting new normal where they might have to play the game. I have exactly zero sympathy for them, and these aren’t people you could appease anyway.
So you say, but different opinions are not of equal worth, and I know who’s opinions I tend to value more. It’s rarely the whiny arse bears who are shocked and dismayed over not getting to opt out of all PvP by default. You may prefer to defer to the spodbrains, but that’ll have to be your choice.
Well, if I’m a guy running a company, and I have the choice of valuing opinions from two people, one who’s currently a paying customer with a dozen accounts and one who isn’t a paying customer at all, I know which one I’m listening to.
again, CCP not interested in gameplay. its about more skill injectors being bought.
and yet another change that will only be mastered by larger alliances with more resources to pour into higher trained cyno alts,
Ah the cries of the Summer Child. Typical Millennial and Gen Zombie, no repect for what people have been building for 15 years, oh no it is NOT FAIR!
Bottom line kid, we built this damn game. We kept the servers on while you sucked on your mom teat. WE are the reason EVE Online is here, not you bunch of participation trophy generations.
Yeah, I mean this guy running the company has made such amazing choices in that regard over the years. If your vision for Eve is just keeping the spodbrains and alienating the rest, Eve is truly screwed.
You are adorable. Post more.
Edit: I just got called “kid” by a '13char. I need a drink and I’m scheduled to be on duty for five weeks straight. Christ.
I didn’t read the post you wrote about, and generalized my response with the phrase “the aspiring …” I will admit failure in these specific cases of new players/alts, SP farmers win.
But CCP has been on a tear of SP promotions lately, “raising all the boats.” The longer you play, the more likely it is that you will receive some SP you didn’t need to buy from another player. This has to statistically devalue SP, by some amount.
I love these self entitled scrubs, who praise everything CCP does to allow them to kill 3 bil + ships with their 80 mil bombers or worse 30 mil T1 subcap cruisers.
so just to provide this “valuable feedback”…
giving cyno mechanics a make over is definitely not the worst idea, and i have seen a lot of interesting ideas from the community about it in recent months. how this idea made it into an actual proposed change is beyond me though. please go back to the drawing board on this and maybe ask the CSM for input.
Not mine, but let’s face it, if you have the choice of catering to people who’ve kept paying, or catering to the people who’ve already demonstrated that when you do things they don’t like, they’ll quit and just keep bitching about a game they don’t play anymore…
It takes a fair amount of balls to make the harder call there. And this ‘CHAOOOOOS!!!’ horsecrap doesn’t qualify as ‘ballsy’. This is just flailing.
Probably!
You did. It was funny. I laughed.
Sure. But if they don’t keep that up, that’s a 100% temporary thing that doesn’t have a long-term impact.
And if they do keep it up, congratulations, they’re hurting their own bottom line.
no, ya jump it to a station and dock, refit to ur highsec align fit, undock, align to gate, when at speed hit warp, wile speeding up just have ur key ready to hit dock on the station incase somethings drops you.
And that is only in low, in null ya use a citadel, ya know, those with tethering, jump wait 5s then dock.
My personal prediction: In 12 days to the end of my membership. Thanks CCP for making the decision NOT to resub easier. Time to play other games. Stupid era of eve. WORST investment in a game and my time.
No, because doing that is what gets your covert cyno killed.
Because once it’s a covert cyno, it doesn’t show on the overview unless you’re where people will see you. Nobody will know you’re there until you come out of warp to dock.
Wait, so this thing you described is not a thing now, this is a new feature that comes with this, or is this something that JF can do now and just choose not to? I’m having a hard time following the Pants on Head Era of Eve right now, sorry.
