Our outerwear (clothing), is locked into a single color to whomever chose it, like our corporation icons I’d like to have us have the ability to change the color scheme.
That would destroy a whole lot of clothing options as some clothing is simply a recolor of others. Which means a lot less money from clothing sales.
That said… you could have limited free palettes and pay for additional ones. Warframe does this really well. Buy a colour range you can use it for all items. But the basic range does a fine job to start with.
That sounds like a good option to me.
