By the love of the gods,
please have the chat tab order be saved.
I mean, this has to annoy almost every player at each login.
And also gives no good first impression on new players I suppose.

i had the same issue for months driving me crazy . A corp member told me the trick and i will share with you as well . unstack every window in your chat , then stack it the way you want it to be . next time you log off and on it should be the way you put it . but you have to unstack every one of the windows for it to work

Actually you don’t need to separate them all - just move the whole window somewhere and then start with one and pull the other tabs to the new one in the desired order.
Some things still have some default order - like Alliance always goes before Corp apparently.

This worked!
I pulled Local into its own window and put the other channels in my preferred order. They all remained in order after multiple relaunches and no further action on my part.

If seems to retain label order for some windows - but not others. I’ve got one client that keeps screwing up the label order with one window (local/corp/drone/probe/dscan). Not entirely sure why - as it’s perfectly fine on four others. Weird…
