Recently CCP made a change to the way our character faces show up in the game.
Our portraits are much smaller than the portraits we made, as the interface now cuts off a portion of both sides. This even happens when the character window is very wide and has plenty of space to show the full picture:
These dimensions for the portrait leave a lot less space for our character! And for no apparent reason at all.
Serious talk, I think this is not an improvement.
Why not use the full sized portrait we made, like before?
Bug report nr. EBR-59257
P.S.: the way the character window now visually loads each element as it has to do calls for the portrait, corp logo and in between adjusts the size of each element looks really amateurish.
At this point I gonna agree with the above dude, they kinda did it to generate a new ticket so they could spent time fixing the â â â â they broke.
Kinda genius if you think about it, âcreate your own jobâ, CCP applied their own version of the mantra I guess.
I certainly agree that arbitrarily cropping, resizing, and stretching the character portrait is not desirable. The portrait should remain the same size, regardless of whether an individual has titles or is in faction warfare.
I agree 100% but Kinda? More like they do it on purpose⌠Itâs all about job securityâŚ
If they canât come up with new stuff to work on, they purposely mess up existing stuff so they can then fix it later⌠Basically itâs an exercise in validating their employmentâŚ
Except â Iâve seen them break stuff over the years and never fix it! Iâm not holding my breath on getting the character info window fixed either. Itâs probably an ââimprovementââ or âânew designââ or whatever they wanna call this thing.
They removed character portrait confirmation window when you generated a new portrait for your character a few years ago. There were complaints. Itâs still not back. It was helpful. The confirmation window displayed a larger shot of your character portrait so that you were able to make out details not detectable on that tiny preview square. But it was removed without warning, and I canât wrap my head around as to why, because itâs not even something that would take up drive space. It was just a temporary larger display to make sure you were happy with your selected image.
To me, it seems a philosophical question. Some higher ups at CCP who have the authority to make decisions are under the impression that these things are not needed. And they remove them from the game, or mess them up so that they no longer serve their function. All of these changes to the game follow a certain pattern in attitude and way of thinking about the game. And it wonât change until someone with a different outlook gets promoted upstairs.
Itâs not even just that (though Iâm in no way doubting that happens, it definitely does), itâs just theyâll see a tonne of tickets, sort by new to old, and look for an easy one towards the top where they know the code will be recent and probably reasonably well commented, and all the old stuff gets perpetually ignored.
It was decent income for gankers, once your victim was dead youâd shoot your gank alts and get a bit of bounty payout. Of course Aiko wants a helpful feature like that back, especially since theyâve also removed insurance payouts for ganked ships. Crowdsourced insurance via bounties would be a helpful addition.
I have reliable sources indicating that ganking is morally reprehensible, illegal, the 8th of the 7 deadly sins and causes acne, diabeetus, cancer and brain aneurysms.
From what I hear, from said reliable sources, ganking is not a valid form of gameplay and is not built into the very core of this video game. Iâve heard ganking is solely responsible for players leaving EVE and is ruining the community.
Of course, with all of that knowledge, which simply can not be refuted in any way, all forms of income should be removed as a deterrent for the activity. I would not be surprised if CCP prevents drops from dropping sometime in the near future!
I did not notice the issue with the portaits until your post, and I can certainly see where the frustration comes from. Untapped potential persists throughout this game, and player character avatars are one of the bigger things I view as untapped potential.
I canât even say that, really, since some of the formerly tapped potential was removed.
