Cluster wide Drifter crisis

Could the aperture present there be stabilizing slowly? I do see that slight difference you speak of… but yes, there’s definitely a clear image of nebulae visible through it.

I’m sure it’s nothing, but atm Luminaire has a shattered WH connection, J005834.

The Drifter forces remaining in the hive systems and patrolling near the wormholes leading to them may be the last resistance or guerrilla forces. Perhaps the rest of their forces have fled to Jove space. It may be a matter of time before the occupying factions decide to attack the last hives.

It is likely that the Drifters will attempt to counterattack once they have recovered from their defeat, but the knowledge the occupiers will gain about Drifter technology will surely make the next crisis easier to manage.

The Convocation of Triglav has allegedly approached Caldari and Amarr representatives directly, rejecting the thought of sharing information with the unproven.

This reinforces my belief in a theory I have about why the Triglavians are reluctant to tell us why they are at war with the Drifters and what ties they have to Jovian civilization. Perhaps talking about this would involve revealing knowledge of highly advanced technologies they are unwilling to share, perhaps to maintain their technological advantage over other factions or avoid avoid causing any radical technological evolution of entities and factions they consider poshlost like Sansha’s nation, or rogue drones from the perspective of the Svarog Clade.

I’ll try to keep this thread open in case the Drifters attack the cluster again.

I’m kind of wary of sudden withdrawals, when the reports say “it is believed”, rather than being certain, about the reasons for the apparent withdrawals.

Time will tell.

Vigilance is as ever, the price of peace.

I’ve developed some hypothesese about what the “Finite-Infinite” might be, why the Gleaned Directive refers to it, and why the Drifters decided to attack the empires.

First, what do we know about the Finite-Infinite?
It seems it could be something secret and very important to the Jovians, something that could have allowed the creation of their first empire and the two that followed, or that would have been very useful to those empires. It seems that the pattern Yosef Okada followed that led him to discover the Finite-Infinite may be revealed by Atavums. This could be linked to the hyperspace network with which the Atavums are connected.

Here’s my hypothesis: the Finite-Infinite may be the Warden or the hyperspace network itself.

Here’s why I think this might be the case:
-The Warden seems to be important to the Drifters and could have been their objective since their awakening. The Gleaned Directive may be the basis of the Drifters’ ideology and objectives, and perhaps the mention of the Finite-Infinite is evidence that its authors and adherents believe that regaining control of the hyperspace network, and possibly the Warden as well, is necessary to regain power. The Drifters appear to have survived the fall of the second Jovian Empire, and also want to recreate a new empire similar to the second, and the Gleaned Directive seems to date from the time of the second empire, or perhaps even its final days and fall.

-It’s linked to the hyperspace network and seems to be a sort of advanced hub allowing more possibilities than the technologies of the rest of the cluster, perhaps including Drifter technologies, which could explain why it would be a secret, like a significant part of Jovian science.

-The Drifters seem to make extensive use of technologies related to the hyperspace network, as the hyperspace telemetry used to predict their actions seems to be linked to it. It is possible that this network was also used by Jovian empires as an important component of their technology.

-The political structure of the first Jovian empire was based on granting great scientific freedom to the various enclaves that made up the nation so that the results of their research could make the empire more cohesive and possibly satisfy their scientists’ desire to discover and advance their civilization. This seems to have made the empire remarkably stable, and successor empires aimed to recreate similar stability as best they could. Perhaps this research included research on the network or hubs similar to the Warden. Perhaps the opportunity to study and develop a concept with such potential motivated enclaves to come together to strengthen the influence of this structure.

-Atavums were needed to “unlock” the Warden, so there may be a special link between them. maybe it’s a strong enough link to be able to discover the existence of the hyperspace network and the Warden with them.

Here are my hypotheses on why the Drifters decided to attack the empires and the Triglavians:

The Triglavians indirectly caused the escalation of the Empyrean War by invading New Eden. They left behind technologies that partially caused the escalation of the conflict between the empires, which allowed the Angels, Guristas, and the Circle to gain influence and ultimately take control of the Warden. It’s possible that this angered the Drifters, who may have sought to “punish” the civilizations responsible for this. The SoCT claims that the Circle caused this crisis, but it was the empires and the Triglavians who unwittingly and partially allowed the pirates to gain control of the Warden.

It’s also possible that they did this because the empires saw them as a threat, and the Drifters sought to fight them to ensure their survival, or to prevent them from researching the hyperspace network, which was beginning to be discovered since the discovery of the Atavums and the Warden. It seems that the Drifters want to prevent other factions from appropriating technologies they consider theirs and only theirs, or from discovering anything about them, so it’s possible they didn’t want the empires to do the same with the network and possibly the Warden. Perhaps after weakening or defeating the empires, they could have come into conflict with other organizations they saw as threats or competitors for control of Jovian technology.

They probably also wanted to end their war against the Triglavians, who clearly seek to destroy them.

Caldari State highest ever black budget spending rumored to be due to Drifter wormhole research.

Closed door meeting of cross-tribal science team held in Liberated Barbican.

Abyssal Observatories reports return to energy stability for first time in a year.

I think the Drifters can no longer afford to participate in such an intense conflict, or maybe they have withdrawn to do something else which would be strategically more viable for them.

Awful. Just awful. Instead of extending the hand of peace and friendship the cluster instead chose the path of war.

In a unprovoked, hostile, response to this misunderstood people simply daring to leave the confines of their wormholes.

The first thing the Drifters did since coming out of their relatively dormancy the last few years was to attack the vile inhabitants of Zarzakh.

No one would doubt the justness of such an endeavour. But no empire or capsuleer power lifted a finger to assist them.

Instead they are rewarded with a full scale invasion of their homes.

I have applied for an audience with the chairwoman of CONCORD Panaja Paukonsuo to discuss the full legal and ethical implications of this.

The Drifters attacked first, more than 10 years ago. And again at the beginning of the latest round of attacks. The Drifters attacked empire assets and abducted citizens unprovoked. They have assassinated Empress Jamyl I, decimated the Amarrian fleets, attacked capsuleer empires without provocation, and again the main empires were attacked and abducted just this year. You are delusional in your assertion that the Drifters are in any way without blame. The Drifters have not returned ANY calls to talk and have instead resorted to violence.

Early findings from Federation inquest into Race for Hives failures implicate Aguard administration.

President Aguard’s Chief of Staff resigns ahead of Race for the Hives inquest publication.

For her Chief of Staff to decide to resign at this precise moment, I think something fishy might be going on. Since this could probably relate to the Federation’s handling of the crisis, I think it would be necessary to report the news regarding this because it could provide important information on how to effectively handle future Drifter attacks or similar crises.

While coordinating a fleet, myself and other capsuleers present also observed that there is no wormhole or anomoly in the gatelike structure when we entered the site. It could be a wormhole or something else and it may or may not be connected to the Hyperspace Network that the Drifters use. I’ll leave it to the scientists to determine what it is.

Our observations are slightly different regarding the appearance of the wormhole/anomoly and the arrival of the Dreadnought class ship. We noticed that the wormhole/anomoly appeared first and shortly after that, the Dreadnought class ship and supporting sleeper ships appeared.

Upon the destruction of the Dreadnought class ship, the wormhole/anomoly disappeared instantly and any remaining sleeper ships warped off. This strongly reminds me of the early days of the Sansha Incursions and what happend upon the destruction of a Revenant. Though I doubt that in the case of the Drifters the Dreadnought class ship is needed to sustain the wormhole/anomoly. It seems more likely that the Drifters considered the battle lost upon it’s destruction and didn’t want to waste any more forces.

Race for the Hives inquest tangled in Gallente bureaucracy leading to “indefinite delays” in publishing.

It’s very likely that Aguard and her allies are behind this. Not only is it politically and morally dubious given everything the Aguard government has done before, but from an academic point of view it’s scandalous to deprive people of such a report.

They did come up short. Is there some advantage they could gain from the delay?

Besides the failures of the Gallente administrations. Should we, capsuleers, do anything about this? What organizations out there besides ARC and Phoenix Naval Systems? I’m surprised none of the null empires have done anything about the threat or even staked their claims on the wormholes.

Aside from pushing back the date when people will likely have new reasons to criticize them not really, delaying the publication will likely further anger opponents or convince people to oppose the Aguard government. It’s typical of this kind of politician to want to erase all opposition and criticism even when it’s clearly a bad idea.

I assume the leaders of nullsec empires didn’t really care about the crisis to begin with because it did not concern their territory while probably thinking that the empires could defend themselves without necessarily requiring their help. I think they were also aware that they couldn’t compete with more powerful nations and organizations to colonize Drifter systems.

It appears that Autothysian Lancers have not been deployed in high security space since September 9th, my main hypothesis being that the victory of New Eden and the Triglavians over Vigilant Tyrannos during the Drifter War is the cause of this.

We shouldn’t assume that’s the end of it, either way.

There are still pockets of resistance within their hive systems and we can still encounter them in the abyss, it will still take time and efforts to really defeat them indeed.

If they still have resources to expend trying to dig the Triglavians out of their extremely well-fortified (like, cosmologically/spacetime-secured) holdfasts, then yeah, that seems like a safe assumption.

EDENCOM hosts Upwell Consortium research group in Sentinel MZ.

I think the sealed project containers the Circle is coveting could contain advanced Drifter technology, or technology created from Drifter science discovered since EDENCOM’s victory at Sentinel MZ.

Vanguard assaults on Upwell’s assets are likely organized by members of the Deathless Circle and possibly their pirate allies and/or other opportunists looking to take advantage of the situation.

This reminds me of the violent technology races that ensued after the Triglavian invasions, I think further conflict and violence will ensue between those who covet Drifter technology and those who possess it.
