Command destroyer sized mining support vessel?

A Rookie Help discussion pointed out that the mining support vessels are… pretty big. Maybe there could be a ship similar in size to a command destroyer that provides some sort of support to mining gangs? Easier to skill into, but not as capable as the big ships.

What’s wrong with the Porpoise? It takes 18 days to sit in the hull, cheaper than the T2 mining barges, can go into frigate sized wormholes, etc.

That’s what the porpoise was made for…

A smaller mining command ship isn’t necessarily a bad idea (they could call it the “Dolphin”).

And WHAT exactly would that be? You can’t get much smaller than it already is.

A smaller, cheaper and less effective Porpoise I suppose. Maybe with Covert Ops capability so it can work with a fleet of Prospects.

It would need to be the same if not more expensive if you’re giving it a covert cloak. And it definitely doesn’t need to be even smaller. It’s mass and bonuses were already balanced around command dds

If you want cheaper, use a BC. If you want Covert, use a T3C.

I guess they could always just use a command destroyer, too.

^ This. Just use a command destroyer. What you are wanting already exists.

when huffing gas in my bearhole, i run Covetors and a Porpoise.
when I’m down chain, I use Prospects and a Bifrost.
Sure, there’s no hull bonus to mining links, but they’re still decent at max skills with a mindlink in.
Best bit is the GTFO button. See sabers on D-Scan, by the time they land, I’m 100km away moonwalking out.
