Continuing Research & Development | EVE Online

Since I didn’t see an official thread about this, here’s the link and text.

Trailblazing Capsuleers,

As part of ongoing research and development initiatives that aim to set EVE Online up for its third decade of success, we are working on a project that involves running the EVE client in a browser.

This experiment is part of our ongoing effort to improve the lives of new EVE players, making the game more accessible by removing the immediate download step.

This experiment will be limited to new players creating accounts from specific locations, and will only be available to users with a good internet connection and a modern browser. As with any R&D project, we do not know what the takeaways will be, but we are grateful to the players that will help us learn more.

This is just one project out of many that we have been working on in order to invest in the foundational technology of EVE Online, building on initiatives such as the 64-bit client introduction, and the Aether Wars project that was conducted with Hadean.

Thank you to all players who will end up participating in this experiment!

I need moderator powers to change the title of this to something more appropriate, like “Browser-based Eve Client Under Development”

Any dev working in CCP should be able to tell that this won’t work…

Cores and now this. I lost all faith in development of this game.

I hope that editing cookies will allow everyone to play as CCP Hilmar.

:red_circle: BWAHAHAHAHAH! Run it in a browser… When it can’t even run properly in its own window.

As if Streaming EVE like Stadia would ever work. The lag is unbearable as it is. Or is the recent lagginess of the client already part of the R&D project to accustom us to these laggs once EVE goes browser game?

CCP are way behind the times, there’s already a browser based version of Eve, one that’s so old it requires Flash to use.

Browser based Lemmings is better, and it uses DHTML not Flash so it’s still usable today.

It even worked in the IGB  and works in the Eve Vision tool too.
