Copy/Duplicate Overview Column Settings?

I’ve been away from the game for the majority of the past two years, and I need to rebuild my personal overview on a new PC. While I am able to load various overview settings into different tabs, each new tab will only load the default overview’s default Columns, even when I choose to load a filter into the tab with its Columns set precisely how I want them.

How do I copy my column selections & locations from one tab to another?**

I don’t think there is a way to copy settings from one overview tab to another yet.

While you can copy or import overview settings and can also even copy the UI between characters (including these column selections and locations) by finding, copying and renaming the right settings files on your PC, you cannot yet copy the settings from one overview tab to another as far as I know.

If it helps, you can set it up manually for one character once, and then copy over those settings to your other characters.

I’m looking at https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/203273831-Overview-Settings and the screenshot they have regarding columns is different than the one in game. There is no ‘Columns’ tab in game. How do I make my column choices the same (and the same size) across each of my tabs? Right click > Columns only allows me to set the columns individually for each tab.

This has to be some kind of a mistake. Surely CCP doesn’t actually expect us to manually stretch and select every single column setting for every single tab, for EVERY SINGLE ALT we attempt to make the same overview present.

Yes they do.

You can copy the complete UI over once you’ve set up your first character.

After setting up my overview for one account, then exporting the .yaml for another account to load, the column choices are being loaded, but at their default sizes. So I will actually need to manually stretch every column for every tab across every alt.

As I said, you can copy your UI over to other alts.

Here’s an older post explaining it:

the yaml you mention is only for the contents of the overview itself, not the layout. The layout (including column width) is copied as part of the UI in the settings files and requires you to copy-paste and rename a couple of settings files.

Maybe don’t use an input broadcasting program that requires everything to be in the exact same spot on each client for it to work.

Just a thought.

Maybe understand that even people who do not use input broadcasting programs like to have their UIs the same across characters.

This ain’t about input broadcasting, it’s about wanting all my clients to have the same UI, so I won’t be surprised by something not where it should be when I am switching between clients. I’ve two of the same monitors at the same resolutions, so I’d like for one screen to just look the same as the other.

This was a feature present in previous versions of EVE, but appears to have been missed with recent updates.

Was it? When? Can you point to when it was removed?

Because my CDO really likes my clients to be identical, but I’ve learned to live with the overview columns being slightly misaligned. Having the target’s velocity a couple of pixels off isn’t the end of the world; you can cope or put in the personal effort to remedy it.

Look at the link in my second post in this thread; even the official EVE help page is showing an outdated screenshot of the old overview where ‘Columns’ has its own options tab in overview options. This is not present in the current version of EVE.

it isn’t exactly the alignment being off that’s troublesome; it’s the fact that I will need to manually stretch 10 column tabs across 12 tabs for all my different characters. I’m looking at over 2000 columns needing to be manually stretched, and that’s a big sigh

Did you happen to read the Columns section in the link you gave us? Were you able to take a look at the picture?

The columns tab was where you selected which columns were visible on the overview, and had nothing to do with the column width. As for where this option went, try right-clicking on your tab and using the “Columns” menu available there.

Because in the past versions of EVE, the column choice you made in the column tab would apply those column options to every tab. Now when you open a new tab, even when you load from a .yaml with all the options set from its native client how you wanted it, it will load the column choices, but not their width. This isn’t a problem you are having because you are only displaying 6 columns, and everything fits in fine.
