Cyno Alt CCP racket an extortion game

What do I need to do for 100 mil?

I hardly play because I have friends who don’t.
But thanks for showing your dysfunction by taking all that time to go line by line. Whatever happened to you IRL, I’m glad it didn’t happen to me.
Or maybe it did and I was blessed with better genetics and handled it better.

Darn. You used to play a lot iirc.

I suppose that’s the case with many…

I have been wanting to play and have taken advantage of those 20 minute game time limits known as Abyssal Deadspace - and yes I get nuked every time and have a little fun at it.

But in addition to roughly 12 hours of work a day give or take, I have too much going on outside.

These are happy problems. All is well.

Please don’t. OP almost made my brain explode. A million times worse than that would be the kind of thing that would cause the English language to collapse in on itself.

The problem is not with needing extra accounts. The problem is in the assumption that you should be able to perform every activity in the game by yourself.

As others have mentioned, EVE is an MMO with multi-player actives built into the DNA of the game. Capital ships, once upon a time, were supposed to be the end product of actual teamwork. A corporation should work together to build them or raise the funds. Why are industry jobs limited per character? Team Activity. Why do capitals require a cyno? Team Activity. Why can’t an Orca or a Porpoise mine like a hulk? Team Activity.

If you chose to circumvent what was designed as a team activity by having additional accounts to replace real life human friends, then it is not a CCP “racket” to make extra money.

It is not extortion because you do not have to fly a capital and you do not have to light the cyno on your own.

We cannot blame the game developers for problems that we create for ourselves because we don’t want to play the game as designed.

The “sandbox” (to the limited extent it’s real) can’t mean solo play isn’t allowed. It might imply being a solo player is harder, but there’s no ban on it.

This really nets out to whether or not a new player can get set up in EVE without joining a Corp.

In principle it would be a good thing if all new players joined a Corp quickly, but this is EVE … Corps are part of the sandbox too, and (naturally) have significant potential downsides for new players - it’s the worst possible stage of “EVE maturity” for a player to spend a lot of time trying out a series of Corps and finding none the Corps is right for them. And (of course) nothing in the NPE helps new players with this.

A lot of gamers prefer to get started with a game, meet people along the way, and join (or create) structured groups together with friends. This process is “broken” in EVE …

… so the question “if I want to start out solo for a while, does than mean I have to pay for a second account?” is relevant.

CCP could probably fix the whole “solo players become PvE specialists or leave” problem, but so far they’ve never tried.

I have no friends in real life who play EVE either. All my friends were made in-game.

Handled what better? I have friends, you dont. Are you saying youre handling the crippling sadness of loneliness, better than me? And therefore, youre okay being alone, while I cannot handle that sadness and make friends?

Is that like the FB and Instagram friends that people feel they have no value unless they have hundreds of? “Friends” you’ll never have a real conversation with. Or be there to put a hand on your shoulder when you are feeling down. Or meet for coffee or a beer.

Maybe it’s because I’m old, but I prefer my friends to be real people, not anonymous randos hiding behind game characters.

Yes. That is exactly what it is.

How else am I going to meet women?

ftfy

@Elena_Laskova,

Nobody said that solo play isn’t allowed. It’s not banned. If you are referring to my comment, it means that a single person attempting to do something designed to do as a team should expect to take on the additional responsibilities.

It’s like stepping on to a soccer field and complaining that you can’t play a team sport by yourself.

Lastly, this has nothing to do with new players. One does not “start out solo for a while” and end up in a carrier. Again, you’re trying to force a play style that was not intended and complaining that it is broken. This is a false comparison attempting to highlight a problem that does not exist.

I agree with you and I realize that now

If EVE is sandbox, a lot of the game play, including grinding ISK via mining and mission-like activities, isn’t designed to be done by a team.

(BTW I wouldn’t personally classify a Cyno Alt as being something an ISK-poor player or a beginner would need).

It’s more of an issue for beginners because they’re less likely to be in a Corp that suits them, and much less likely to have the ISK to pay for a second active character.

On the other hand it’s reasonable to expect one or both of those to be true of someone who’s played for a year or more.

IMO it’s one of the many things that make EVE a very uncertain investment in time for a new player.
And like most of those things, it could be made much less of an issue if anyone cared to try to deal with it.

FFS! Use some interpunction.
