I use KeePassX atm (https://www.keepassx.org/) but meaning to upgrade to https://keepassxc.org/ which is a more recent fork.
Would it possible to make a public list to shame those bots? (Like itâs being done in War Thunder)
Having actual public lists would be a huge step for regaining customer trust.
Until someone screws up and bans you for botting when you werenât. But hey, being permanently incorrectly labeled as a botter and publicly scorned, who cares, right?
Yeah, that is NOT what was said.
We always make jokes about covering for goons and what is not in fireside recordings themselves is Alliance and Elysium chat which is filled with off the wall banter. I literally said in Elysium while the Mittani was talking on comms, âWHY WOULD YOU REPORT ANOTHER GOON O_Oâ when someone asked how and when to report botters and it was a complete joke, because the whole thing in goons is we stand together - the âWhy would you report a fellow goonâ has become something of a meme. What I remember (and this was a while back, not recently) the Mittani replied âYeah why would you turn in your fellow goons so-and-so do we have to have a talk?â and then he paused and said âIm kidding, im kiddingâ he laughed and said âSo all kidding aside, just send a ping to either me or Innominate, or your corp director and weâll handle it from there.â He then went on to talk about the ways in which people have to be tested for botting to make sure they are bots, and he explained that he knew it wasnât fair to have to play with these people who are botting. (it really pisses off home defense like myself) But if you jokingly talk about botting or rmt you get yelled at by a director, depending on whether that director has a sense of humor or not. The Mittani has always had a sense of humor as far as I remember, and he knows that people do not like being yelled at about the rules, so he always tries to make concessions for weird goon humor.
So yeah âWhy would you report another goonâ has become a meme which does not play out in reality because we sort of enjoy taking the opportunity to screw each other over if one of us is being a jerk (being afk when weâve been pinging that hostiles are near, or just being an unlikeable type) If you do not respond when we save your ass from hostiles, if you insult us in some way, you will not get your mobile depot/excavators/loot fairy drops back. I have been on several fleets where the FC said âcan someone report that guy please this is the second time this weekâ
In the context of our culture what the Mittani says in Fireside makes sense and itâs funny, because who wouldnât report botters? The jokes get much worse inside the forums. The reason why CCP will not shut down GSF is because they obviously would want to have undercover spies in every large alliance to see what is going on. They wonât find any wrongdoing. So yeah, in answer to everyone who wonders why CCP doesnât shut down goons, there is no proof. Because there never will be. Goons are the good guys. The r/eve fanaticism cannot be reasoned with, though.
There is no way bots could survive in Delve for long. We get way too many hostiles in our space for that to be lucrative. I suspect almost all of the bots are in highsec. Botters, whether inside the alliance or not, piss other people off, and they get reported all the time. The problem is its very hard to tell who is botting and who is not. We get a lot of dumbasses who just dont pay attention and get killed in their VNI.
ty for sharing.
At this point you, or the account in question, are permanently banned for botting. I am not talking about the first offense.
You were found guilty twice allready.
The two strike system makes it possible for you to contact the people responsible after your first ban, should you be banned without reason.
I store it on dropbox (locally synced)
256bit AES
Keepass
(which can also do TOTP keys if you set it up.)
Good job CCP! Just make sure to keep up the effort. We have a long way to go still.
I just hope that the report boter feature only tagâs a player and then that player is watched for boting activities as people might just troll people they hate by getting all their friends to report someone.
You really think most of the bots are in HS?! Higher may have more mining bots and distribution mission running bots, but the BIG isk running bots are all the cap/subcap, Rattlesnake,Nightmare, and Gila botting fleets running high end sites 23/7 In Null sec. I guess you have throw in the damn market bots for HS as well. However, if you want to see botting fleets outside of mining/distribution ones, you need to go to NS (other than Delve, I hearđ).
You dont ban people by reporting them.
You tell the security team that you think someone is botting and they should take a look.
I sincerely hope this statement does not come back to bite you in the ass.
Doesnât matter. If your name goes on the list, people will remember you were on the list. Youâll be permanently tarred, even if itâs later found out that you did nothing wrong. People wonât believe youâre innocent, theyâll believe you know someone, or fooled someone.
Look at how it plays out offline with wrongful convictions. They get overturned, they get vacated, but anyone who knows about them will never treat you the same way.
And in EVE, with its persistent culture of âuse every tool we can to screw over our in-game enemiesâ, thatâs a significant thing. Itâs just asking for people to whip up torch-wielding mobs. Especially through /r/EVE.
On the other hand, if it turns out to be a mistake and you get removed from said list, it actually gives you a tool to fight back the mob.
If not you are banned for botting, people will notice anyways.
I am disappointed. I thought you guys will give us some more details about bots that were banned. And I though that we will see something more about how you want to deal with bots than just a tip how to report it.
All this waiting, for such a long time, I expected more lengthy read.
I bet most of those came from drone regions lol!
No, it really wonât. Because given the choice between âbelieve what I want on the flimsiest of evidenceâ and âbelieve the truth that can be demonstrated, even if it flies in the face of my confirmation biasââŚ
Climate change deniers, 9/11 truthers, Holocaust deniers, Flat Earthers, and Young Earth Creationists all say youâre wrong, by existing.
I also wish there was a confirmed botters list, because then you know if those who you have reported were in the end or not botters. Iâve reported botters, and I still see them in system mining and acting like a bot. Do we have to report them again for the 2nd strike back would then act or are you really monitoring them to see IF they are behaving like they should?
Also, do we report each bot or just one of them?
So basicly what you are saying is that it wouldnt matter anyways because people will belive what they want anyway
So a list with toon names is fine? At least if you follow that logic
