Small coalition becomes small alliance. Stays the same size. Still one group.
Why not? My alliance has “allies” in j-space, and they can’t use our non-existent ansis either. They still help out if we ask.
Yes, but you lose your alliance identity.
I believe the 3 levels we have now: “corporation → alliance → coalition” are the best in terms of identity
If you care so much about your group’s identity being lost, you should have just stayed on your own. Or break up the coalition.
how slove alpha crop
We will be changing Ansiblex Access Control Lists (ACLs) to be alliance-only. This will give alliances control over which of their members can traverse through Ansiblex Gates but constrain usage to the organizational unit of an alliance.
This means everyone has to join the big power block alliance (FRT, INIT, CONDI) now, no more smaller sub alliances within these blocks that can thrive under the block protection. Good design choice, really good. This will surely make it so that independent alliances will flourish in null sec.
The sarcasm is dripping (as intended I’m sure).
Good. I hate blocks. I hope this destroys the Imperium and Winter Co
So you mentioned that Ansiblex usage will be purely limited to Alliance members. Have you thought about the impacts of out of alliance hauling / JF / Industry alliance which are required in their current iteration for evading War Decs and making it possible to goto Jita.
Capacitor is an interesting but also stupid idea. Right now, if you move a fleet through the ansis and they run out of LO, you can have LO in your ship or have the holder alliance bring more LO to not have your fleet stranded and split. Now, you have to wait for the ansi to recharge. On top of that, you have no way at all to figure out if your fleet can pass through the ansi with the given capacitor. Knowing CCP you will not even be able to see how much cap it has left.
your point sounds more like “I live in j-space, this doesn’t affect me, I like to see you suffer” ![]()
But think about this, they said they want to cater to small groups, the ACL change affects small groups only. Big alliances are not affected by it at all. Doesn’t sound like a well planned thought.
Yes it can be overcome by having all alliance collapsing into one, so in game terms no real advantage, but at a loss of a layer of identity that we are used to and love
It will make them even stronger and give them an even more coherent, integrated and numerous member base as organizational friction from the smaller sub alliances disappears. It’s now all one big alliance. This makes them stronger, not weaker.
It will destroy WInterco and Imperium but swell Fraternity and Goonswarm numbers.
And INIT will laugh from the side…
Looking at this lunacy for the third time, this overly complex, overly complicated capacitor-acl-zoning system is bound to fail, and it will make everything more frustrating for everyone involved. The initial thought about Fatigue is flawed (also typical for CCP and CSM).
Fatigue is easy to implement and has no drawbacks. Just give everyone equal fatigue and make it a 50 % reduction for all subcaps (no reduction for caps). That way, you can jump through an ansi a few time with some minutes of waiting out blue if you only do your daily chores. For fleets and logistics, you can take a few gates (2-3) without worrying to get to a somewhat distant but not completely remote part of your space and then you have to wait.
This is much simpler, much less complicated, it does not force everyone into one big alliance, and it offers challenges.
I don’t dislike the capacitor thing, but fatigue would make more sense as it would be the same system affecting total projection, otherwise people could just add more gates to cut the capacitor use and only add a couple more jumps to the overall route.
Also, if draining cap becomes a viable counter, probably cap transfer would also be available to keep the gates going.
But I’m in a small group, I’m not too concerned except for the ACL change that would force us to merge with our blues in the area
The ACL change is going to definitely force smaller groups to join larger groups or die and it will just make bigger blobs.
Way too little, Way too late
With the top 3 Blocks having 160K members between them and having already sterilised null sec of anything other than crabbing they then destroyed FW and insurgencies and put up all their citadels in low sec and claimed the moons.
This should of been done 5 years or more ago it’s way too late now.
Another silly thing about the proposed ACL change: what if I want to hire mercenaries, or haulers, or just give passage to friends for any reason? Not allowing them to use the infrastructure I built and own is utter nonsense.
ACL change: big alliances won’t notice, small coalitions like those in droneregs get wrecked. Horrible idea.
