[Devblog] The Future of Force Projection Feedback Thread

The only alliance that won’t notice is INIT. Everyone else, as part of coalitions, will.

This change is a complete failure because, obviously, it fails to address the issue that there are still players active in sov null-sec.

INIT also has blues and their bunch of useless clone sister alliances INIT Mercs and INIT Ass.

also, supers already cant use ansiblex now, play your game, please.

As a “small” alliance leader, this is NOT helping smaller alliances. The ONLY thing that allowed smaller alliances to fight off the bigger blocks was the ability to work together, and the Ansi network allowed that. It also fostered relationships as smaller alliances dont have the market.

Interesting changes!

I’m glad at least something is attempted to limit force projection.

I however am more a fan of fatigue myself which to me seems far more predictable for players themselves than an external factor like capacitor.

I can see my blue and red timers and plan for them, but I cannot in advance see the capacitor level of an ansiblex as this depends on the people who jumped just before me. If I’m flying an expensive ship and someone jumped their 6 Stormbringers just before me and I get stuck and killed I’d probably feel far worse than ‘stun locked’.

Fatigue also has it’s own balance and strategies already baked into shuttles and haulers with fatigue-reduction.

Besides that, capacitor mechanics that depend on some largely invisible ‘distance to capital’ likely makes it very unintuitive and inconsistent.

I get the idea behind it, which is to make distant ansiblexes less effective, but the end result is very inconsistent. People would need to know distances to the capital just to know how big of a capacitor effect there is, which doesn’t seem like the best mechanic to me. Why not pick something more consistent that works at all ranges? What about something that stacks penalties the more ansiblexes you take to the edge of your empire? Why not fatigue?

ACL restricted to alliance-only is interesting too. I however am not sure if this is good or bad.

For one it appears to limit force projection within huge coalitions when alliances cannot share each others ansiblexes anymore.

On the other hand there’s an unintentional and possibly strong negative effect of this idea:

This new ACL is an extra push for players and small corporations to merge with the already largest alliances, in order to access their full infrastructure.

Is this really something the game needs? Extra incentives for the largest groups to become even larger?

When Okami took over a more prominent role in CCP, I was a bit hopeful that things would get better, but it turns out he’s just as bad at managing and improving EVE as his predecessor Rattatati was. Go figure.

"But Okami, why not just delete Ansis and start over?

Believe me, it’s super tempting!"

Always easier to nerf or destroy stuff rather than building. Sorry for keeping you busy from your other important projects, CCP :frowning:

and i am completely done with this stupid stuff, i truly hope this game dies… -6 account when their subscription is over. No you can not have my stuff…but you can truly go ■■■■ yourself CCP

It really hurts trade. Sometimes I buy or sell over in a neighbors keepstar. That becomes more difficult now.

Also, if I’m interpreting this correctly, the proposed change just limits the size of the fleet moving through it, not the amount of gates that can be taken in sequence.
So it would be still allow a fleet to cover a huge distance, just duplicate the network on the periphery if you want to field bigger ships

Sandbox? What sandbox? News Flash Fenris. It’s not a sandbox when devs are constantly dropping concrete blocks, shards of glass and cat crap in it. Your current plan will not have the effect you desire, because you fail to understand human nature. And it appears you’ve avoided wormholes all together. You think small groups are going to establish themselves in null, when a 100 man Kiki fleet can pop thru a wormhole and wipe them out?

The changes to ACLs are terrible. Small alliances will completely disappear from the sovereignty map because holding space will be pointless for them, and it will only create complications.

Kind of a share the Trig stolen systems/Ahbazon pain with Null. Enjoy.

It will destroy everyone except them.

Fine thing. If you “outsource” your transportation to evade wardecs, live with the drawbacks.

Even this whole concept of “holding corps” to have structures to use for your entire alliance but not being wardeccable should be adressed. You want structures, be ready to be wardecced. You want wardec immunity, don’t hold structures.

Same goes for all these claims “oh oh but small Coalitions will then have to form mega-alliances”… yeah shall they go for it. Lets see how many members they can keep and how many simply don’t want to give up their identity and independence and just form a separate alliance - which is absolutely intentional. Nobody “is forced” to do anything. The change just opens up new chances to make important decisions. And at least everyone in the same mega-alliance is clearly identifyable on first glance. Absolutely nice change. The same goddamn concept should be used for all Upwell Structures. No Jobs or Hangars for “outsiders”, just docking, repairing and refitting if you are not part of the alliance. Same as the old POSes did it, because that was actually brilliant design to put limits on the convenience and management effort of huge groups.

Make Eve Feel BIG Again! On a serious note, this is a good start; however, large alliances are a big problem for this game. I think trying to reduce their range is a good start, but they’ll just find another mechanism to project. Just cut them at the knees and limit the size corporations and alliances!

“Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of ‘new players’, that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players.” - Malcanis

I suppose the corollary to that law would be something made to limit the richer older folks will have some pain points for the smaller.

A lot of the armchair devs are already predicting doom and gloom or ‘everyone will join goons or frat’. I don’t think so. This MAY cause a fraying at the edges of alliance territories. It MAY cause alliance to now consider where they keep their fleets as rapid overwhelming respons may be slower and/or hit the cap limit for the highway.

Interesting times ahead. The older players remember that this echoes a lot of the same complaints that came with Jump Fatigue when it was first intorduced.

would make sense, but then fix the exploit of corps evading wardec cooldown by leaving alliances

At least jump fatigue didn’t force corps to switch alliance, the ACL point is my only concern tbh
