Fleets waiting in-line at the Ansi to join a stratop (2027)…

^ @Philderbeast (you are here)

I’m not opposed to the capacitor idea for Ansi’s. I think it won’t have much affect on the day to day or small gang roams. For larger strat fleets and CTAs, it will make things more tactical. We’ll have to calculate fleet priority for jumping and if they end up adding a neut and cap transfer mechanics, it will make things even more tactically interesting. I do, however, think that the distance from Sov makes no sense. It is an arbitrary mechanic to restrict force projection. I think it is wrong headed. Fleet logistics will have to account for Ansi cap in the future and that will play a big role just by itself with force projection and response times., especially with supporting fleets. I also think that restricting them to just the alliance is also wrong headed. I get the desire to try and minimize power blocks and give the little guy a chance. I would have loved to have that back in the day when my corp was first heading into null. But I think this will have quite a negative affect overall. I think it may be worthwhile to consider alternative ways to handle force projection.

You dont have to calculate anything tho. With these numbers we are not going to use them at all. Blocks will probabl rely of fatigue to move large fleets. A few titans will solve this problem fast.

Just take a look at the numbers and realise a few destroyers will cap out the outer zones. This will affect day to day travel.

Removing the JB and using the power/manpower for something else will be a musch more sensible solution than trying to puzzle fleets thru this.

And this will only affect a small number of alliances: Goons, Fraternity, Initiative, and Dracarys, the last two more because of the distance between Fountain/Delve and PB/PS. The majority of most alliances will have space within the first few zones. The majority of alliances will hardly have space outside of 5 LY. Below is approximately 10 LY from C-J6MT and well within the frist 2 zones of the proposed zoning and is a large part of Goon territory. They can move their capital and cover even more. Greater than 20 LY is a LONG way away and within covers most of their space anyways. So when you are talking about the outer zones, you are talking about Omist or Geminate when talking about Goonswarm. Or Fade and Tenal when talking about Fraternity.

6.00 Destroyer
7.00 Assault Frigate
8.00 Interceptor
9.00 Electronic Attack Ship

**Just to have a few numbers. Tell me any of this makes sense Gameplay wise. While mass made sense for wormholes. I dont know what mumbo jumbo magic this new system wamts to emulate other than AT ship point costs.

Maximum shipsthat can use the gate of a type on max power

This is per hour allowance

Yes, it costs more to have a bigger empire to maintain. This is a thing in even most single player games, not just competitive MMOs.

Do you unsertstand those numbers.
You think 8 frigate per hour is a sensible number for a relatively close to capital jump bridge?

That range is outside of borders of most alliances…

And its free under that. So whats the point of having JBs?

I have some questions / suggestions after reading the 2026-07-21 Force Projection: Ansiblex Capacitor Update.

Questions:

  1. Does each Ansiblex pair or each Ansiblex have the 1250 TJ capacitor?
  2. If it’s each Ansiblex, does the Ansiblex the ship leaves from or arrives at use up capacitor?
  3. An AI query says Ansiblex ACLs can be asymmetric, please confirm.
  4. What’s the base cost for a Venture? Based on the costs for the other mining ships, I presume it’s 1 TJ, but I don’t see a Mining Frigate category that would include it.
  5. Same question for Mining Destroyers.

Suggestions:

  1. Since capacitor in Ansiblex jumps that consume it will be a strategic resource, recommend you make the ACL access of the fleet commander apply to all players in the fleet who are part of the same Alliance as the FC.

Edited (2026-07-23) to include the restriction that players must be in the same alliance as the FC to share the FC’s ACL access to the Ansiblex.

  1. Each structure.
  2. Origin point takes the hit.
  3. Both sides will use the upcoming Alliance only ACL
4/5. I can’t tell for sure, but I would think it would be the same as every other mining ship listed as there won’t be a need to have it be something else. (Outrider will likely be with command dessies)

There is a diffrence between stopping fleets using them (which makes sense) and stopping general use by solo players and <5 pilot groups.

I’m not particularly opposed to the cap changes in general, but recharge needs to be quicker to still let the small groups use them

if it was 5-10 ships (depending on size) every say 10 minutes, they would still be useful for casual play but not response fleets.

How were those capacitor points picked, and why?

Why are T2 haulers 7 points?

T1 haulers are just 1 point. Even freighters and jump freighters are 1 point.

Is this some freighter favouritism, deep space transport and blockade runner hate or a big oversight?

I would expect T2 haulers to use the same cap as T1.

And I would expect freighters to use more than small haulers, considering they are capital sized ships with huge holds which can move the same volume in far fewer trips than small haulers.

Could you add a setting to auto pilot for these changes? like say ‘avoid zone 2’ or zone 3 ansi options?

Still no mentioning whether there will be a UI for the capacitor level. A proper UI, not this ESS janky in space bulldung.

Why are T2 haulers treated differently than T1 haulers, JF, normal freighters? 7 TJ vs. 1 TJ for a JF.

It does prompt a lot of questions…

maybe because all of that is still in development and neither the numbers are final nor are many other details.

Keep calm and wait for the patch notes on release.

One thing to consider is simply the Jump Bridge Range. 5 LY may sound a little, but given the fact that still 30-100 other systems are within direct access range (depending on location and regional design), thats still hilarious. So they should either cut that range down or reshape the universe to increase distances between the systems.

If you consider that 221 (!!!) Systems are in direct jump range for BlackOps staging in C-6MT, thats game-breaking ridiculous. While the systems within a single constellation could stay relatively close together, the constellations themselves should be moved quite a lot apart to limit all kind of jump-techology to at most skip a single constellation, not more.

I would hope that they’re semi-final and not “let’s just throw some #'s out there and see what sticks”. I don’t presume to know what’s gone into these, but purely from an outside observer standpoint many of these seem… off.

Since the numbers are out I’ll put my thoughts on the numbers. I think Fenris both undershot the numbers, and didn’t do a very good job with the cost balancing.

Scale of Usage

I think FC undershot the recharge rate by a decent margin. Here is the rough capacitor usage from the top 10 Goonswarm ansi under the new system ordered by activations per hour. This is for the month of June, during which the alliance was at peace and didn’t have too much organized activity going on. The numbers are going to be approximate since you only get mass data and inexact mass data from Ansiblex fees. Everything within a “weight range” is assumed to be the cheapest variant.

Zone Activations/hour TJ/hour
1 30.8 -
2 26.0 346
1 24.3 -
1 22.5 -
2 21.8 221
2 19.2 274
2 17.7 168
2 15.5 147
1 13.5 -
1 13.2 -

That doesn’t look to bad, but eve is not a 24 hour game. Here’s EUTZ weekends, which is closer to “peak use”

Zone Activations/hour TJ/hour
2 44* ~661*
2 33* ~546*
1 65 -
1 47 -
2 36 480
5 36 5,242
1 25 -
1 23 -
5 22 3,046
4 22 1,506

Here we see some extreme numbers. Shouldn’t take much to figure out the zone 5’s are the bridges in Geminate. Those not being useable is intentional to design. I’ve also removed the traffic/usage from gates earlier in the route used to get to geminate (removing 5242/15*2), marked with an asterisk.

So what you see is under current numbers, “everyday use” of people doing peacetime organized stuff in zone 2 is enough to overwhelm capacitor recharge by a significant margin and you will have people in individual ships sitting at capped out gates. There are ways to mitigate this, since the current network is designed without this system in mind.

Capacitor/ship balancing

This relates to ship power:capacitor balance. Currently the power curve is very top heavy, what do I mean by that? Taking the “benchmark” classes of T1 frigate, T1 destroyer, T1 cruiser, combat battlecruiser, and T1 battleship.

Ship Class Capacitor Cost Zone 2 Total from max capacitor
Frigate 8 156
Destroyer 12 104
Cruiser 20 62
Combat Battlecruiser 29 43
Battleship 33 37

There’s very clear choices about the most powerful ships you can bring for a certain capacitor budget, and it tends top heavy. A hurricane is not 87% as good as a maelstrom, not close. Depending on what the “pivot point” looks like, and I think it’s cruisers. Small ships should get cheaper and large ships more expensive to balance their combat power in a curve closer to what the Alliance Tournament charges for ships.

The “industrial carveout” also leaves many “dual use” ships very powerful. Squalls and Skiffs are actually quite capable combat ships in their own right when fit for it. Getting clapped by 250 skiffs will certainly be good for comedy at least if the numbers don’t change.

Lack of control/tools

Given how precious capacitor is and the logistical recharge pattern, groups will very much want to prevent the ansiblex from dipping into cap out and low recharge. To do so they will need to be able to limit what/who can jump, at what capacitor percent, with what. I would very much like Fenris to implement tools like this at launch, I know they probably don’t have time for it.

I hope this anti “force Projection” works as big alliances have the ability to wipe anyone now and take over like Pandemic did before Fatique was used.

More smaller alliances and more content for a lot of people.

There are still wormholes, filaments etc for smaller groups

My only question and i am asking if we can topup capacitor with logi to help move people at times?

Are the numbers too big to use logi?

I also hope this does not affect JF which is the main logistics of Nullsec
