Devblog: War Declaration Changes - The War Adjacent to Christmas

There were a lot of accounts created just recently!!

they havent made the right changes imo.

Eve is in big trouble and small patches would not save it. Eve need big and bold changest, but ā€œBrave Vikingsā€ from CCP are in fact scared chickens …

Ok so this isn’t exactly an answer to your question, but…

I was having a discussion at Fanfest either just before or just after Citadels were introduced with a game dev. This turned into an argument when I pointed out that they risked alienating small groups and solo players who couldn’t afford to run the new structure and who didn’t want it to turn into a full time job mining ice for the fuel. Not just that but putting a big fat target in space that they couldn’t defend.

His answer?

I don’t care how many leave, we can always get more players…

That attitude to the player base hasn’t exactly worked out has it? In fact it’s his attitude that night that has slowly taken away my will to keep playing.

Well no, but this isn’t the first time I’m hearing this either… WH peeps when the Mass/Agility changes to HIC bubbles came in as a good e.g.

But just because I agree with the statement doesn’t mean I’m not going to ask… Can I have your stuff?

All my stuff apart from an Orca and the few ships we were given along with all my BPO’s was sold and given away a while ago.

Can’t fault you for asking though

I’ll have the orca, I need one :p.
I’m not disagreeing that the attitude around changes hasn’t always been the best, even if I think most of these changes were needed. (I’m also thinking we needed asymmetric options for the defender around maintaining pve and therefore being in space as targets for all that time).
The same change but with a far more apologetic attitude would have been better.

the whole citadel thing was a huge mistake. They are cheap enough to be spam for large groups. They are unfun to kill and drop nothing of significance (outside of wh). Sure on occasion they may generate fights, but in my experience, the vast majority are undefended because its just not worth the effort, when they die throw up a new one. There is nothing more morale crushing then grinding citadels to see new ones thrown up immediately. Sure POS had some of the same issues, but (1) damage wasnt throttled, (2) there was a chance something could drop, and (3) you were limited in where you could place them which meant that you could control placement by throwing up your own.

That is a really interesting observation, being able to control placement because POS’s could only be placed at moons.

Restricting structure anchoring to moons could be a solution to our structure spam problems.

wait, a game developer for eve online said

??

Yes. I had an argument with him on the forums where he denied it.

At that point I got worried about a ban so just shut up.

It’s worked for 15 years

The assist mechanism in Eve now does not allow you to offer a assist without the defender being ā€˜open to assists’ on the specific war.
This does not allow for us to offer our services very well within the current mechanic. This was not mentioned in any of the patch notes, or in the change discussions over the last few months.

Can this be fixed and put back to the way it was?

Not many people know in a war dec they can get support so they are unlikely to open up to assists. To close this off seems to limit what CCP was looking to achieve in the new War mechanic changes.
