I have teamed up with other groups in wars to attack common targets. It is good fun when you find some that are willing.
Until the aggressors donât pay the bill. Then youâd have to become the aggressors and could get allies to help finish them off.
Well yes, but if you have a common alliance that would be easy to do using that new 24 hour cooldown period thing.
Or you just let it lapse, have defended your assets and let it go (and sing it with me, let it go, let it goâŚ)
They could do something like that but it would be complex mechanically and difficult for players to grasp while in action (eg member of A confused why they suddenly canât rep someone in B who just got tagged by E who A isnât at war with). Thatâs why I think shifting this to the war ally system is better. All wars would be shared between allies which means no extra aggression checking mechanism needs to be added and there will be no surprises in combat.
âWhen X calls to crimewatch a second happen, system gets a 2 minute warning before entire system goes suspectââŚ
Ok so yes that would be abused by people with alts and civilian guns to make Jita go suspect, but it would be funny also.
We are talking hig-sec here⌠let it be tidi it will be very rare youâd have it that complex. But there needs to be something for A and B to rep each other against the common target of C.
You would have to be able to ally into a war on both the attacker and defender side then. Even when you have existing wars with the targets.
And that still leaves the issues with who the primary corp becomes since allying in ties you to them for declaring or cancelling the war.
So⌠even that has issues.
Tidi in highsec can kick in at quite small numbers because of crime watch and the fact that highsec nodes donât normally get reinforced the same way.
Yeah, I thin I agree. Ultimately, Crimewatch and the war dec system are completely intertwined. The overhaul, to get it right, would need to be a completely reworked system where wars arenât tracked as an entry on the corp/alliance (again, a corp of corps, EXACT same mechanics) database table, but given their own table and the sides tracked on that.
I donât at all, entry level for small entities was at its lowest yet there is barely any opposition. Anyone could start a corp, ally against PIRAT for free and start killing, people canât do this anymore.
Bring along patches, I have to start corporation, drop a citadel (500m), war dec (100m) with no hope in hell being able to defend it and to top it off, PIRAT know exactly where it is.
I actually believe these new changes will further reduce conflict, null entities will get bored of constant raitaru timers week after week, smaller entities will feel too much financial pressure replacing structures.
Except⌠weâre not. Weâre actually talking about high-sec AND low-sec, because declared wars affect Crimewatch, and Crimewatch kicks in in lowsec fights to check things like bounties, suspect/criminal flags, etc.
As for âtidi will be very rareââŚ
Have you been in Perimeter lately?
You are confusing declaring your own war with allying into a defenders war.
Or multiple corps who are already at war joining into an alliance with each other to be able to cross rep.
The issue is most at the small alliance level, where you canât merge with another alliance reasonably.
Be the conflict you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Ghandi, Civilization
Yeah, that really doesnât work when people can just logoff to avoid you.
No argument, else thereâd be no wars at all.
How about if corp A is at war with corp B and corp A member just went suspect. Corp C starts to shoot A, can Corp C member bring in his alts to rep him? Alts are NPC corps.
By earlier replies yes because of same corp, so no criminal timer. But because of LE & no war, you will still go suspect like normal for an LE.
Whoops, missed the NPC corp bit or did you add that.
Still, no war dec is involved for C. Only an LE, so current rules âshouldâ apply.
You wound me.
It looks like my question had already been answered⌠Taking away a legitimate way for groups to work together without creating an alternative seems like a bad idea to me. I get that the neutral logi thing has been a problem since the beginning of the war dec system, maybe take some more time to flesh out alternatives before rolling this out.
There is no formal way for groups to ally, and you are actually blocked from offering assistance if you are already at war with the same group as another defender. How about trying to figure out how to changing this? Maybe so anyone that is an active defender in a war can offer assistance to anyone else that is a defender?

You arenât.
You run out of food pretty quick, Iâd think.
