Just as in player corporations, conflict should create opportunities for all playstyles to contribute. Fighting, industry, logistics, resource gathering, and support all matter, whether you are on the edge of the battlefield or deep within your home territory.
All this stuff is already massively involved and especially all industry aspects are more involved the more destruction happens, hence my worries that this means more Insurgency crap.
How i read it, it seems they are going to actually get support included directly into FW, which i think is a good thing.
Speculating, this might be by having FW agents give Ore gathering (so, actually mine and deliver actual ore from a belt, please not silly mining bogus ore or “materials for war preparation” style missions), production (deliver 50.000 units of Antimatter M or 20 Kestrels) or even distribution tasks (haul ammo or ships from behind the front lines to a frontline system).
It would be a great way to get more (non-PvP) people involved in FW and get away from this isolated eternal-PvP, that honestly is pretty exhausting from a lore and immersion viewpoint.
Yes, because freelance jobs, as player driven events, were a great success 99% of them are just pure scams, meaningless spam or ganking magnets. Let the players shape the content of a feature and render it completely useless.
These campaigns are likely to be similar to the race for the gates event, the events prior to uprising, or even the Shadow War. Where players shape the outcome. Even the latest Drifter Hive thing is player driven, and we have yet to see the results of whatever research they are doing in there, and I suspect we will see them with these military campaigns. We have 3 months until Fanfest and a Gallente election to see what happens.
This is honestly disappointing. We are the ones that write the stories in this universe. There are whole books written about the player created drama, endless hours of video documenting it, the massive player created battles that created head lines in gaming media were what brought people here. Hardly anyone cares about your factions or insurgency crap.
You guys seemed to be headed in the right direction when you focused on new ships and sov stuff. Now you’re once again trying to tell a story that no one cares to read just like wasting resources on a fps that no one is going to play like your last failed attempt. There’s so many things that could be getting attention and here you are talking about solo players…. In an mmo that is built around cooperation… yep.
This is staying in null sec. There are other parts of space, the people who live in Low and High sec want more of what CCP is outlining. Null players don’t want CCP to mess with null sec too much, you can’t really complain when they focus the development towards the players wanting to interact with the Empires. New ships will keep coming either way.
One can hope but after years of particular CCP behavior, I am skeptical.
There is boatloads of potential for other kinds of interaction than straight PVP in this whole gameplay complex, that really needs to be exploited more thoroughly.
When a player ship explodes, you get ALL the goodies instead of what happens now? Permanent consequences, meaning player death is permanent when they get podded?
Players out there in blueball NS can shape their world themselves (resulting in 95% dull carebearing and occasionally switching regions by throwing a couple trillions at each other).
NPC null, low- and highsec are NPC driven and need a storyline that keeps them going. Nothing wrong with that and i support more story development and lore events in NPC space. Good to hear CCP plans to get players onboard to shape the outcome. It worked great in the Triglavian campaign, which shook up a lot of old rusty stuff. I expect the coming to do the same. Looking forward to it!
