Why does it matter what ships the enemy flies? If I’m reading this correctly an opposing faction can simply refrain from flying those ships and completely deny the possibility of completing the task. That’s insane.
Yeah, that’s definitely messed up…
If anything, it should be an extra bonus for destroying those ships…

Yea, this requirement is ridiculous.
To me this reads as "Try to avoid flying Navy, Angel, Guristas, Serpentis or Blood raider ships as Amarr or Angel militia for the next 111 days".
I do not understand why FC thought this was a good idea. Surely they too must have realized this creates an unintentional and unwanted incentive?
Because without a minimum threshold this goal would have already been filled out by people killing alts in executioners.
This isn’t really a practical option in FW; you can show up in T1 and get stomped constantly, or show up in T2 and not be able to enter a lot of complexes.
I do think T2 should be included in the eligibility, but the concern re: “If everyone just stops flying these ships…” has the same logistical problem that all, “If everyone just…” problems have in that everyone will not just. The concern relies on people giving up a lot of personal capability to thwart a collective goal that they likely do not care that much about thwarting.
The campaign should be based on economic principles (covering the entire sector of resource extraction, production, and supply logistics), which would then translate into bonuses and advantages for the militia operating in the field. As a player belonging to this first group, I feel a significant lack of satisfaction with this expansion, because instead of feeling part of something larger, I have no real way to contribute to the progress of my faction or the achievement of its campaign objectives. On the first day of the campaign, I expected to be out there working alongside others to gather resources for the campaign, but instead the system takes 180k ore from me and tells me that’s enough for today.
I didn’t realize that the military campaigns had a “blue balls” component to them…
hmmm it’s not as bad as it sounds. 90% of FW players use navy issue ships as crutches to compensate for bad skill.
comets and hookbills are the #1 and #2 most popular frigates, respectively.
Then this should not be the sole task. They should stick to traditional FW goals. This could be in addition to those goals, but not the end-all be-all of it. Perhaps the kills could be worth X amount times a capture/defense/FW mission task.
It’s not.
Nobody reads anything anymore.
Moreover, you’re probably going to see this same objective pop up for the other empires as well. It’s a reasonable objective that will complete long before it’s due without any particular effort, and the concern that anyone is going to prevent it by collectively no longer flying comets and hookbills is not a practical one.
Tomorrow Minmatar will have a new mining objective, then the day after that a hacking objective, and the day after that a FW complex objective.
If there’s anything I dislike about the campaigns so far it’s that they all seem far too likely to succeed and are not structured in a way where they’re even competitive. They’re barely even errands and a huge variety of the tasks are something where you just accept the objective and do what you were going to do anyway to make a blue bar move a little bit.
The only part that is interesting at all are the hacking objectives with the suspect-on-warpin sites in highsec.
Hey you should see one of the Amarr mission requirements:
15,000 missions… with a cap of 1 mission per character.
Did you know that you have 112 days (now less) to complete these?
Woooo, shoot 26 non-capsuleers… Exactly 1 more than the Air dailies. Maybe tomorrow I’ll even get to mine, lol.
I’m skeptical, with the so little amount any single individual can contribute, that anything but few campaings will go on. Pretty much depends on the militia, I don’t see Gallente win anything in all fairness
Release the tristan from the pens.
I tried finding the strange ore, and all eaten. Not found any anom nor belt nor nothing in 5 bulwark systems… then I wanted to explore, and the faction I like dont bring exploring sites… well… guess all empires will end 100% acomplishment despite I engage or not.
There is no way to UN-acomplish oposing factions goals.
I actually doubt all will accomplish their campaign goals
I was speaking in regard to faction warfare specifically. There was a Kangite mining task coinciding with the FW task when I made the original post. I already knew there are multiple types of tasks. I had yet to see any evidence of alternative FW tasks at the time I made this thread and the bit you posted isn’t explicit. Based on that, one could conclude that by “objectives” they mean completely different types of goals (exploration, mining, non-FW missions, industry). As with most CCP material it’s vague and unspecific.
You are right for now. People are just going to continue doing what they are doing. But the possibility exists and it shouldn’t. Since there is no real sense of competition for the moment there is no real benefit to organize and coordinate, except maybe in the case of Gallente thwarting Caldari to get an extra bonus for themselves. But there are no mechanics at the moment to counter overall progress of another faction. As you say, it’s essentially a continuation of the AIR Career program beyond the NPE that every faction should win.
And you forgot the most glaring flaw: you have less options to participate than the Air daily goals.
Only less at first, there will be 44 options at the end
Letsee how many I have to choose from today… exactly zero (0).
