Discussion Of The Implications Of Niarja's Invasion

It’s consistent with the Triglavian lore. They used to own space in the Jove regions. The Jove precursors to the Drifters and Sleepers drove them out and they’ve said they intend to reclaim their old territory which the Jove have now abandoned.

Good thing your understanding is unnecessary.

Isn’t population more relevant than space?

high+low = 74.42% of the population in 1,907 systems (24.77% of systems)
null = 20.07% of population in 42.78% of systems (3,294)
whisky* = 5.51% of population in 32.45% of systems (2,499)

This is from 2012, so before SP-farm alts, and it counts chars above 5m SP.

This is from 2015. Numbers moved slightly, but the proportion is still roughly the same.

Over 2/3 of the games population is in high sec.

I can’t help but think we’re soon going to be seeing Stealth Boys for sale for real cash to give immunity through certain systems.

PA knows what they’re doing. First create a problem, then sell a solution.

half of that are nullsec and wormhollers alts

Hello. I would like to know from CCP if Niarja’s state is permanent or how long it will last.

Would also like to know CCP’s policy on turning player-valuable systems like Jita, Amarr, Dodixie, route chokepoints, into high risk PVP areas or low/null sec going forward, and if we players can get any type of notice that it will happen (weeks or months in advance).

My Omega is up in a couple weeks and I want to know if it’s worth it for me to continue playing. A few weeks ago I decided to come back to the game and build a char from scratch and have been enjoying myself. Having the rug pulled out like this in a trade route I need is a real kick to the balls, unlike a gank outside of Jita 4-4 which I can safeguard against.

If you really really really must do this sort of BS, it would be nice if you let players build public routes through high sec the way we have been allowed to build public industry, etc. And it has to come FAST.

You could also, like, plan ahead.

Thats a thing I hear.

The single biggest problem with Niarja falling is that the answer to the “next system” question sort of becomes, “Who cares?”

permanent is permanent. that was CCP statement. only CCP plan change will change it.
So Eat it!
Ichoriya was mine Waterloo and i ate it and made my plan! no point play eve so no point use credit card. no fun . too much effort get fun moment

I wonder what happens if that System flips: https://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/Algogille
according to this this is a liminality candidate too: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/e/2PACX-1vQtfeQcpyRC5EZgfrrBQukvBvLOW_NHiP8MWLGOZg5ZdlD_0b4YN3_MT_CrV1OxJPLa8aQTusGHlsYf/pubhtml?gid=1823024496&single=true

then there is no way to get from Jita to Amarr without going throught low sec/null sec

To all of you, who keeps saying “Adapt! Improvise! Overcome!” - have you thought about new players who are just getting to know this game? A game that is already hard to master?

Every new player starts in high sec and it’s their home for some time. EVE doesn’t forgive mistakes. The first steps in this game, with little money in the account, are difficult. You’ve forgotten what it’s like?

Now, after completing those few tutorial missions and faction career agent missions, many newbros try to do the Sisters of EVE epic arc mission. For extra cash. To learn some lore. Or simply because for many it’s something like next part of introduction to the game.

Niarja is highway to Amarr space, and part of SoE “Blood Stained Stars” epic arc takes place in Amarr. And we all know that this epic arc is already long and time consuming by having to travel from one part of New Eden to another, back and forth. Because Niarja now will be a low sec in Triglavian hands, rookies have to travel that +40 jump around Niarja, also by the low sec systems. The chance of getting them killed on their way to Amarr is high. Not to mention, that invasion is not over yet and on that +40 jumps route they also might be several Triglavian systems sooner or later. There also might be several EDENCOM systems. Patchwork of high and low sec systems.

And now I really can’t imagine better way to discourage new players interested to do epic arc and to this game than putting them on an extremely long and dangerous journey both ways. In the process, they might loose all what they managed to get with a heavy grind/farm.

Furthermore, there is no way to get around this problem sensibly. If the beginners allied themselves with Triglavians just to fly through Niarja, they will meet EDENCOM in Amarr = death. While they might pay for freight service to have their mission ship in Amarr (which would be costly now), they cant freight themselves (capsule) there. Most beginners are Alphas, so no cloaked journey for them either.

Basically, newbros are just cut off from part of introduction content in this game by one system, that have changed to low sec. I assure you, wise advisors of the space survival (“Adapt! Improvise! Overcome! Drink your own piss!”), that now only a small percentage of new players will try to make the epic arc. And to say, that “since they’re overwhelmed by the challenge of traveling through the low sec, this game is probably not for them” is a sad sign that you don’t understand the main problem of this game, which is the inability to keep the new players in for a longer period of time, precisely because game constantly put rather brutal obstacles to them. Rookies are casual people who want to get to know the game, spend their free time in an interesting way - not army recruits going through a test of mental endurance in virtual reality.

And you there, “masterminds” in CCP… at least you could get a little bit of self-control over the demolition of the high sec and at least let the new players doing the epic arc travel normally throughout this shitty invasion.

Incorrect.

Thats funny, I always had one base near Jita. NPC station.

Cant even think how it would be to organize now even stuff from 5 stations across the whole space, separated by Niarja.

I suppose I will have it a bit esier than most.

Algogille will never fall because it is the only system Couster can be reached through (career agent system, for Newbros).
I’d rather bet on Uedama. :japanese_ogre:

Nope, the Amarr tasks are situated in Derelik, nice and cozy, closer to Rens than to Amarr, and the player is in Hek before, so no need to travel through Niarja for the SoE Epic Arc.
But OK, the way from Amarr to Arnon is 40 jumps if you stay in highsec.

I can imagine several better ways to discourage new players, e.g. staying in Highsec for ever…

I went for an operation yesterday morning and come back today to the change. Very fast indeed. Only for iI follow @Ashterothi on twitter I’d of not known Niarja was next.
