I know, right…
Sadly, piracy as I knew it seems to be mostly gone. I am going to be trying to do some things solo haha.
Yeah. After the war changes a while back, it’s just not the same. I was a merc. The fun in that play style is gone, I’m afraid.
Yep. I’ve been just doing sandbox things and fun stuff. I nabbed a hookbill last night with my super secret ship build so that was fun.
The problem is imbalance introduced over the years, why would I wait around for ransom payment knowing I could get blobbed any second? If local increases by just one whilst attempting to extort a ransom, then I’d give up and just finish destroying the target because people can move around eve too fast these days. If warp to zero was restricted to travel fits and lighting a cyno had a waiting period before someone could jump, then maybe you would have more interesting pvp situations, I’m sure many will disagree but I don’t care.
AFAIK pirates were sailors, who decided to not feed their slaver and went AWOL . With the ship, which in herself cost much more than the pay of the sailors.
Basically pirats were the first anarcho communist (with the first form of social insurance) , with each pirat having a share on the result - while traders (their former employers, AKA slavers as the sailor condition were bad) only provided them scraps .
They had to turn to piracy because by definition they were in an illegal state - so whatever they would do was illegal.
