I donāt have an opinion on it either way. Personally, I donāt have a use for it. Other players might. If you lose ships left and right, then maybe itās of some use to you.
First you suggest to remove insurance āfor inflation reasonsā, now this?
Insurance is a good way to keep the replacement of ships affordable for new players and has a valuable place in the game.
For higher tier ships and LP ships the impact of insurance is much smaller, so many more veteran players feel like insurance does little for them or rarely use it at all, but if you are at that point in the game you should have a few sources of ISK already to be able to afford losing more ships, or have set up SRP with your group.
Your suggestion to remove SRP in your other thread is very harsh against new players.
I donāt use it, I donāt assume Iām going to die.
The only time I insure is suicide dread bombs.
I have never used it, neither as noob nor as vet. Imho it should be a complete newbro protection mechanic and only apply in HS for losses while your safety setting was green. But here covering higher rates, even for more advanced ships.
For losses from PvP or intentionally flying into the most dangerous corners of space, no insurance should pay, itās totally nonsensical and hurts (my) immersion. It would be a lot better to lower the production and thus the market costs for PvP ships so that they are easier to replace. Internal SRP can be organized by the player groups and the game should support that with Project/Contract/Wallet mechanics.
Itās worth bearing in mind, at least in my experience, that SRP will often exclude insurance. Which sort of makes sense. If SRP includes the full replacement cost and the person gets insuranceā¦they could actually make a profit from being blown up.
It looks like the insurance mechanic has a 67% disapproval rating. It might be time for someone to try and discredit the poll.
Did you make a poll only to make a point against me?
Aww, thanks!
Sure, Iāll give it at try!
Itās a very suggestive and anonymous poll with only 15 voters.
- Suggestive: Many people donāt like how insurance in EVE works, but it is misleading to assume that those votes mean that these people want insurance deleted instead of improved
- Anonymous: While a few people have commented on that thread, many of those votes are unknown. Who is to say you didnāt vote 10 times out of 15 yourself just to make this point?
- Few voters: The forums arenāt read by the majority of EVE players and the majority of forum posters didnāt vote on it. Itās not representative at all.
I would not put any value on that poll at all.
How did I do?
You did amazing screw the people who voted?
What?
I meant āwhat did you write there I do not understand itā.
Now that I read it again I think you missed something to separate the two sentences, because I read it as one.
No. It may be called āinsuranceā but it isnāt. Itās just a small amount of isk that isnāt worth a quarter of the ship and certainly not worth the up-front cost. Itās worth forgetting.
Back in 2010 the default Insurance allowed me to buy new Myrmidon after stupid loss of first one. Got just enough ISK for it. Obviously, rigs didnāt exist for for me - they were too expensive. But corporation hangar contained many t1 and meta modules so i was able to fit all the slots for the ship (triple tank, combined hybrids and projectiles, nice timesā¦)
I almost never used the Insurance since then but i see how it can help newer player to get back on track after first losses.
Let is stay.
The only reason I insure a ship is for the 2 soldier of fortune missions at the career centers. āAngel of Mercyā and āThe Standā give you a free ship to blow up. I insure at platinum and then get paid for the free ship.
I suppose, there are some actuarial accountants that could tell you how to insure your ships. I just see it as betting I am going to lose the ship within the month. I donāt think the solution is to remove the insurance program or make it payout more. Maybe if it functioned like my car insurance? I get a rebate every year for being a safe driver. It is roughly 2 monthly payments tossed back my way in a check.
I vote, I donāt know.
Now itās at a 36% disapproval rating, with nearly double the voters, are you willing to accept that you spoke too soon perhaps? For the record I still think that the sample size is too small and we cannot determine what the player base thinks of the mechanic.
No.
Same with bounties. Theyāre just useless and meaningless mechanics. Imagine itās the Wild West, you just took out Billy The Kid.. you go for your rewardā¦ OH, hereās 10% of the value of his gunā¦
PS. Shares are stupidly meaningless as well.
Player bounties were removed because they were being abused. I used to place 100 million ISK bounties on brand new players just for asking utterly stupid questions in Rookie Help chat. If you admitted to skipping the tutorial, I made it 200 millionā¦
