I have a question… What does God need with… hmmm… NVM
I heard before that one of the issues with the game is the code… being ancient and stuff, makes it challenging when it comes to implementation of new features, changes, etc…
Do we know… for the purists and insighters… if there has been any efforts to make things easier by perhaps updating the code?
Does anyone know if there is some sort of AI magic being applied to simplify or modernize EVE’s inner clockwork?
If something has been done… is this still an issue?
Not just curious but an answer would perhaps reveal how serious CCPnians are with it and if someone is truly considering EVE to last even longer.
Because in essence, whatever the objective when it comes to population, etc… may be ruined by the ability to work on it.
Eve is basically relational databases ( rather than just ‘spreadsheets’ ) in space…so I’d imagine it has SQL, 3rd normal form, and all the rest of that. The core of SQL doesn’t really need updating all that often…its quite a rigid structure over time. On top of the database is some server, front end and user interface that ties into it. I’d imagine its the server architecture that gets changed most over time. The SQL code from 20 years ago probably still works just fine.
You know those little fish don’t get eaten by the shark, they get the leftovers small bits from the shark. So not quite how EVE works (see, I do know how EVE works, unlike someone said in these forums).
The conversation here on the actual topic ended long ago so I’ll be closing this thread.
