Is it possible to make a patch for EVE Online that wont cause a public outcry? Maybe even give players a feeling the game is heading in the right direction? I believe its possible.
Tech 2 reactive armor hardener added
Notification upon logging in if your contract has been accepted has been added
Notification upon logging and while logged in when your contract receives a new bid has been added and enabled by default
Hotkeys to control drones individually has been added
Character location is displayed in the launcher
Scanned signatures remain scanned after you log out and in
Upwell Structures and POCOs shows the date they were first launched
Right click and trash item in inventory is possible while in space
I think thats enough for one patch.
Keep in mind that even the best of patches is going to have some player ask questions which is not a bad thing. Have a nice day.
People already pull implants, do you want people to also trash the contents of their ship while theyâre getting killed? Great idea to trash the full loot PvP experience of this game.
On a second thought, with your level of suggestions I wouldnât even be surprised if you do wish to trash that part of what makes EVE great.
It seems like the only contract notification is if someone assigns a contract to you or if an auction has finished. For example if someone accepts your courier contract you donât get a notification.
How is it fine? Why donât you ever seem to think your ideas through?
One of the first steps of coming up with new suggestions is âhow would an EVE player abuse thisâ.
In this case EVE players will abuse your idea to trash all their inventory when they get tackled to spite their enemy. We all know this is going to happen. I would do it. It happens in other games already.
I even suspect you may be suggesting this because you intend to abuse it that way.
Albion, a full loot PvP game very similar to EVE, has a similar issue. While you cannot drop items in that game you can trash them. They specifically had to make âtrashedâ items magically return to the inventory of a player upon death to counter this strategy. Albion made self-trashing items during a gank pointless, just like it is pointless in EVE today.
So why would you want to introduce a new problematic mechanic when the existing mechanics work fine?
Players can simply eject any items they donât need in their cargo.
And if you really want it ejected and gone, shoot the can.
Ok, for argumentâs sake, letâs say they did add the feature to delete items from your cargo while in space? Where does it go? Just magically disappears? Thatâs what jettison is forâŚ
I would laugh my ass off if a freighter pilot was about to get ganked, panicked and, out of spite, deleted everything in his cargo hold before the gankers could kill him, but the gankers ended up not having enough firepower to kill him before Concord showed up and he literally just threw away 10 billion ISK for nothingâŚ
But if players could delete items in their cargo bay they would do it before getting killed to deny an attacker the loot but there is a fix for that so players can get the best of both worlds.
Tbh. deleting items in you cargo hold just before you die is a skill full play and im not sure it shouldnt be allowed. Can maybe increase loot drop rates to 75% then.
Itâs not âskillful playâ itâs âspiteful playâ and I do not believe EVE needs to be changed just to enable it, as it undermines a core concept of EVE as full loot PvP game.
Why would you want to delete items from your cargohold frequent enough that you run into the 3 minute cooldown?
In what scenario does this happen?
There are solutions to your problem already:
Do not loot items that you do not wish to keep
Put the items you do not need back in the container you got them from
Put items you wish to jettison into the same container you already made when you jettisoned items in the past 3 minutes.
If people say EVE is not a âfull loot PVP gameâ they are wrong. For example the modules fitted to the ship still has a chance to drop and most people wont delete items in cargo bay anyway due to how fast paced PVP can be. But those that do ended up doing something skilled and fun. Meanwhile everyone else can easily get rid of unwanted items. Have a great day.
I would use that to bait every single freighter into deleting their entire haul. Attack a freighter, make them think they are about to be killed, wait until they are almost dead, they delete their entire load, and you shut your guns off right before they die. So, they get to keep their 1 billion ISK freighter, but they lost their entire payload.
@0ptimus_Swine When was this? As Iâve never even heard of this, and I started EVE during the 10 year anniversary. Was it in the game originally? Added later?
