I get this on launching Eve…

Norton sucks.

Why am I not surprised?

It’s a good deal more reliable than ‘some anonymous person on the internet’…which is the lousiest antivirus imaginable.

Wakey, wakey…CCP.

Norton is wrong; there is nothing wrong with the signature: VirusTotal analysis of exefile.exe.

Please reach out to your antivirus vendor with all the details you have. Also see [20241024] - 'exefile.exe' Incorrectly Flagged By Anti-Virus Applications.

To expand on how come Norton and other antivirus scanner can be wrong. All scanners use the same method. They scan from a list of known virus “finger prints”, which is a short piece of code. During a scan, if it sees this string of numbers, it tells you there is a virus detected. However it can be a false positive.

If you quartine the file and don’t play the game, many scanners will send the file to the HQ ( in this case Norton ) to inspect. They in turn should implement a new set of rules in the next update. The bad news? How long this process takes depends on how much you pay for the antiviral software. They all depend on the accuracy their database to sell their product, I would remind them of that. Meanwhile you can always whitelist the exe and the app will get ignored.

Windows has its own antivirus and Real-Ttime Protection. I don’t use any Avast/Norton/WhatHaveYou… Haven’t had a virus in years and EVE Online is happy with my PC :slightly_smiling_face:

EDIT:
The one time when I got a very bad virus that my hard drive had to be reformated, losing all my data, is when I used Avast.
I never had a virus when using Windows’ own antivirus.
