ESC Menu bug is going to get me killed

If I open the ESC menu there’s about a 25% chance it’s going to complete break the game window once I close it.

The bug occurs when opening the menu with the ESC key and then closing it, either with the ESC key, the “Return to Game” button, or the “Log Off Safely” button. The window disappears and will not redraw on the screen or be able to be interacted with, but the game is still running. If I hover over the window icon in my taskbar, the preview will show the game window, but any attempt to actually restore/fullscreen the window fails. The client has to be force-quit and then relaunched.

This is a pretty hefty bug and upsetting because it renders you completely vulnerable until you are able to log back in.

Previously I was running the game in “Fixed Window” mode. When searching this issue I was only able to find a single mention of it, where the user stated it happens to them in this same mode. I’ve swapped to Windowed mode in the hopes it is a workaround, but given the sole mention of this issue is over 3 years old it’d be nice if this was tested and addressed.

Version 21.01 - Known Issues

Using the game in “fixed window” mode, If I press escape while the game menu is already open (ie press escape to pull up the game menu then press escape again, intending to close the game menu), rather than returning to the game, the entire game minimizes to the taskbar, and the game window refuses to restore. It’s been almost two weeks so far of Windowed mode and thankfully I have not run into the bug. Here’s hoping someone sees this and is able to isolate the issue. Windowed mode sucks to play on as it kills immersion and screen space.
