EVE Buddy: A companion app for desktop and mobile (v0.21)

ty for the infos.

would be great if you could try again with 0.13.1.
If it still not works, please send me me the latest application log with INFO log level. Hopefully it will help to better understand what is going on.

Firefox should work. That is what I am using too. My development phone is a Pixel 6a with Android 15.

Please also consider joining our Discord server for easier support.

done that, same result.

Can’t check with another browser right now, but setting the privacy / tracking protection to a lower level in Firefox didn’t help either.

Ty for checking. After some testing and feedback I think this might be related to Android’s automatic app suspension. The fix would be to set the app’s background usage to “unrestricted”. More details in the updated installation guide for Android

Would be great if you could test this again. And before you do, please also upgrade to 0.14.1.

Feature update: EVE Buddy 0.14

  • Will now show an indicator on mobile, when there is an update available
  • Various minor fixes and improvements

“App not installed, Package appears to be invalid!”

I just installed the app from the website with no issues. Can you please try again?

I did re-download and tried to install multiple times. Same error message.

weird. can you please provide a screenshot of the error message?

If you become a billionaire with this app, I demand some shares! :stuck_out_tongue:

tyvm. can you please also try with an older version, e.g. 0.14.0?

btw. it might be easier to chat on a Discord for support. So if you want please feel free to join our Discord server here

0.14.0 can be installed.
Still loads forever when I try to add any Ingame character. Simply doesn’t complete the auth-process.

And no, I don’t want to use Discord

This is not an easy issue to analyze, since I can not reproduce it on my own phone. However, I also now have another user with a similar issue. I opened an issue for it and will further investigate. Can you confirm that you have the same issue or is it something different? If it is different, please feel free to open an issue.

Regarding the installation issue. Another user had a similar problem and solved it by first uninstalling the app and then installing the new version. Please let me know if that also works for you.

Feature update: EVE Buddy 0.15

  • Shows a live countdown timer for next clone jump of a character
  • User can open additional information windows for characters, corporations, alliances and solar systems and browse between them
  • Bandwidth usage has been reduced and performance improved for all HTTP requests

Did uninstall, did install the latest version, no change.

I also tried another browser (Brave), also doesn’t work.

Looks to me like the eve auth process needs some data from your app to complete but this data isn’t delivered? Because ‘localhost’ means it’s waiting for my phone actually as far as I know.

Thank you for trying it again.

It appears that reinstalling solves the invalid package error. I still have no solution for the timeout issue and it indeed looks the same like the one from the other user.

Yes, the CCP server is making a request to your phone (and the app is running a web server to receive it). This is a normal part of the OAuth process and works perfectly on other Android phones.

Do you maybe have any network security app running (e.g. NetGuard) or any VPN tool? Those might prevent the request to localhost. If you do please turn them off and try again.

Feature update: EVE Buddy v0.16

  • Now has a search bar for searching the New Eden game server (similar to in-game search bar)
  • Search works both on desktop and mobile

Feature update: EVE Buddy v0.20

  • New: Search for route to nearest clone for all your characters
  • Change: Improved info windows

Hey. A friend who had the same issue on Android just told me that the latest version is now working for him. If you have the chance would appreciate it if you could try it out too. The version is v.20.1.
