Hey again!
A friend of mine with the similar issue now found that is was caused by Samsung’s power save mode. This is because the power save mode is also limited background usage of apps (which the app needs to function). After disabling power safe mode my friend was able to add characters normally.
If you get the chance, would appreciate if you could try this and let me know if it works for you.

I guess my power save mode is off is why ive not had issues

happy to tell you that disabling the power saving mode did allow me to add a character. What I could test so far did work.
Since I am an old paranoid eve dude, here a first suggestion:
When adding a character, please let the user select FIRST which parts of the ESI access he wants to give. Like a checkbox where the user can select or de-select certain access.
I really like the job you did, but I would never use it because it requires too much access.

I feel the same way about new EVE apps, which are asking me for lots of permissions.
However, this app is not a website, where you can never know what happens with your data. This is a local app where all your tokens and data remain fully under your physical control and are never shared with anyone else.
Further the app is 100% open source, so in principle you can verify that it does not do anything weird with your data.

I know all this, but as said: I am old and paranoid. I don’t have the technical knowledge to check the source code or even know if anyone bothered to do. Also nobody can ensure me that the source code isn’t clean “now” but gets a backdoor for data leaks in some future update.
I will not use any app that demands access to read my assets, location, mails, contracts etc… the only reason I would even use an app is to check if any of my alts is out of skill training or any of the planetary colonies are finished extracting, without needing to log in the characters.
That doesn’t mean I accuse you of doing or even trying it. I just means I have my standards and if the app doesn’t let me chose what access I give it, I won’t use it. Others may, doesn’t mean it is a bad app. It’s just not for me.

Thank you for the explanation. I understand and respect your opinion.
I am currently not planning to let users chose a sub-set of the features / scopes. This would add a lot of complexity to the app and I currently rather focus my effort on adding feature the users are requesting. Sorry.
But I might re-consider doing this at some point in the future and/or if more users are requesting this. Please feel free to open a feature request if you like, so it does not get forgotten.
