EVE client on DX12 (?) causes freezes in other hardware accelerated apps

Even between multiple game clients. I’m leaving the comment here in case anyone else has the same problem. This happens on Win 11 Pro 25H2, Ryzen 8600G (igpu), latest drivers with or without the extra adrenaline software installed, game mode disabled, latest BIOS installed and no bloatware from the motherboard vendor ASUS Prime A620M-K, 16gb DDR5, KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.

The problem occurs particularly when I close an EVE client, causing all sorts of glitches in Chrome, VLC, freezing momentarily other EVE clients that are open at that time, etc. For example, in VLC, I’m watching a series with EVE open in the background, I close the game, and the VLC screen freezes, forcing me to reset the PC in some cases

After a while, I had to disable hardware acceleration for those programs, Discord as well, and finally even the EVE launcher to minimize the issues, but it seems to have been completely fixed when I went back to DX11 (this was yesterday, so I need more time to test).

That’s all for now.

This might stem from the carebear tendency to be alt-tabbed to a video player all the time when logged into Eve, but then I could be wrong. Have you tried just playing the game? I’m pretty sure CCP didn’t make this so that you could use it to generate load on your CPU while you watch Netflix.

Yeah, let’s play the game. That’s what I told myself after retiring the old i5 6600, which served me for almost a decade and didn’t cause these particular problems with EVE.

Chrome closed, no more YT podcasts in the background. Now I’ve to worry about finding the right time to close the second EVE client with my scout, dread/cyno alts, because it can freeze the main one. I guess I need 32gb to multibox two clients in potato mode.

Maybe, that’s what I have. I do get some crashes, but no more or less than most other online PC games these days.
