[FIXED] Eve Client Freezing, whole PC becomes unresponsive

hi, seem to be having the same issue as many of you.

When running more than 1 account, ive not had the blue box problem though.
This problem started for me around the 11th of November

ive noticed that if i am running more than one eve client, one eve client starts taking up 100% of my GPU
it starts with clients becoming slow and unresponsive, then in a minute or 2, my whole system freezes, and it does not matter if my eve clients are running on dx11 or dx12

what i have tried.

  1. Disabling Discord overlay has no effect

  2. Updated GPU drivers to the latest version

  3. Rolled back GPU drivers to older versions

  4. tried running eve in potato mode, has no effect

  5. i ran Memtest on my PC, came back with no errors

  6. ive run multiple Benchmark and Stress tests on my GPU, both dx11 and dx12.

  7. ive updated all motherboard drivers, no effect

  8. ive updated the BIOS on my motherboard and GPU, still has no effect.

  9. ive tried limiting the FPS in Global Nvidia settings, wich had no effect.

  10. last night i did a clean install of windows 11, and installed all the latest drivers again, and ran benchmark tests and stress tests again wich all came out fine, but the problem with Eve remains

there is not much left for me to test

    My pc specs are
    CPU: Intel i9 13900k
    RAM: 64GB DDR5
    SSD 4tb Samsung 990 Pro
    GPU: Asus RTX5080 Astral
OS: Windows 11 Enterprise 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7171)

This problem is only when running Eve, (multiple clients) i can run all other games normally.

I have observed something similar lately. I had to Win-Key + L lock my PC and relogin to fix this.

Similar issues here, mostly happening when one or more accounts enter big grids like Jita

so past days ive done some testing with older GPU drivers.

Nvidia Driver 576.80 seems to be the most stable when it comes to Eve, but i still get the same errors in Event Viewer
GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.80 | Windows 11 | NVIDIA

here is the Error
(can be found in Event Viewer under “Windows logs
–> System”

Screenshot 2025-11-19 094055

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\00000107
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

When this error occurs, the GPU driver crashes because its having trouble with the load from handling multiple eve clients running and causes the eve clients to freeze, and in some scenarios a black screen.

i added a TdrDelay in my registry as a mitigation for this

Location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
Name: TdrDelay
Type: Reg_DWORD
Data Value: 8 (default value is 2)

by adding this registry is not a fix, but more of a mitigation for the error.
it gives the graphics driver more breathing room to recover when facing an error

the eve client still freezes, but only for a few secs before recovering

if you are experiencing the exact same issue as me, same logs and if you have a RTX 50xx series GPU
Then you can do what i did to check if it works for you to make eve playable for you, but do so at your own risk.

gpu running at the full 16x mode?

you might as well want to monitor videocard temp sensors over a period of time. Degraded thermal pads in conjunction with specific load profiles might trigger all kinds of performance breakdowns — check to be sure.

yes, card is running a full x16 speed and the temps are fine and within limit.

im currently doing some more testing, after the last changes i made i have not experienced any freezing, or GPU Errors in the Event viewer.

i will do some further testing today, and post the steps to fix this glitch as long as i dont experience any further errors

I don’t get the slow and unresponsive. Everything runs fine when multiboxing two characters.

BUT…the minute I log off one character, the remaining one freezes up completely for a minute or so.

how’s your PC’s memory doing? Enough free RAM available for what you do?

Checked logs already? CCP provides a tool for collecting them: https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/5885024878236-LogLite-tool

You might find a clue to your problems there.

i found a fix that works for me.
Ever since i did this, i have not had any problems with running multiple Eve Clients
And i dont have any GPU Related errors in the Event Viewer anymore

i deleted the Custom TdrDelay Registry i set before.
Then i Uninstalled the GPU driver via DDU tool, and then Reinstalled the latest GPU Driver.

Here is the steps if anyone wants to try them for themselfs if you are experienceing the same issue.

Open Windows Settings: Click on System → About → Advances System Settings
In the new window that pops up go to Advanced → Device Installation Settings
Change the Setting to “No”

This will prevent Windows update from automaticly updating Drivers for your hardware.

Next go to

Download the latest driver for your Nvidia GPU
Just download, You will install it later.

Next we are gonna Uninstall your GPU Driver with DDU
Download this tool

This tool uninstalls your GPU Driver, and cleans everything related to your GPU Driver.

once you open the program, it will prompt you to start the program, in Windows SafeMode
you can skip that. (thats what i did)

Next, Select your GPU and make sure Nvidia is selected.
Then Press “Clean and restart”

Once finished, make sure you restart the PC.
Once PC is restarted, Install the latest GPU driver that you downloaded earlier.
once GPU driver is installed again, Restart PC again.

After this you should not experience Black Screen or Eve Client Freezing when running multiple accounts.

cool that you found a solution, but then I don’t understand this.

If it were to the faulty gfx driver, why did reinstalling windows not fix it. Odd.

once you clean install windows, You will have the “Default” Windows Display Adapter Driver, then Windows Automaticly downloads the GPU driver via Windows update.

But by forcing Windows not to Download Drivers for the GPU via the steps above, you are left with the Default Windows Display Adapter Driver after using the DDU tool, and it wont update the GPU driver via Windows update.

Then you can proceed to getting the driver directly from Nvidia.
