EVE Evolved: MacOS Performance Takes *MASSIVE* 50%+ Hit, Higher CPU and Temperature Spike

TLDR: MacOS Performance took a 50%+ hit.
Yes, you read that correctly - no upwards of 26%+ improvement.

This patch has been a massive letdown and needs to be reverted immediately. It’s seriously broken and there’s no way this could’ve been properly tested. I’m not even sure I could run a single client on my old system now…
. . . . .

Just picked up a new Mac Mini M4. Performance with 3 clients (all high graphic settings) was 60+ fps pre-patch (yesterday and again briefly today after DT before Tranquility died); 60fps if v-synced. Now I’m averaging between 20-28 fps (max) on my main client (3200x1800) while the two clients (1440x810) are averaging between 45-55 fps (which drops to 30-35fps when in actually doing something other than warping around).

In addition, the Upscaling option defaults to “Off” - and even when I select “AMD FSR 1.0” there’s no option for Upscaling Setting. When I apply and return to the game it defaults back Off again. So obviously something is broken here or not implemented correctly.

Lowering the graphics settings makes no difference whatsoever - it’s like the window size (and not the GPU) is defining the level of performance.

Finally, CPU load has increased by 100% (from 15-30%) and the temperature has gone up +5°C. Other than the ~1.08GB patch today - nothing has changed on my end (I’ve only had the new system since Sunday night).
. . . . .

Addendum: Closing 1/3 clients results in my main client seeing an increase to between 44-46fps (docked). Closing 2/3 clients results in the main client getting up to 55-58fps (docked). So much for this offloading workload to the GPUs… If I had to speculate, I’d hazard that the main CPUs (and not the GPUs) are handling the entire game.

On top of potential performance hits, your computer will also suck considerably more power. My machine with 2 clients running at very high settings is up from around 180-190W to around 210-230W, in space, under no stress scenarios.

Either CCP does not derive much revenue from multiboxing or they are shooting themselves in the foot when they pay little or no attention with the performance impacts of the changes to the game.

For example the jump animation when going through a gate, is it really neccesary? What about transparant UI, afaik transparancy negatively impacts performance and for what gain?

But also the station interiors have like 100 millions polygons, the graphic fidelity is extreme, and on top of that they add shaders which again are notorously bad for performance and otherwise makes the game look bad on systems that disable them. I dont even.

I forgot to mention most ships seems to do a silly animation when they enters and exits warp. screams
