That was the worst keynote I’ve seen in 13 years.
But a big shout out to Dr Becky for injecting something interesting into the day.
Or am I being a bit harsh?

I expect they teased the big stuff in Legion, so the expansion keynote will probably just be more details and a few little things mentioned as well. Based on what they showed, it’s already pretty underwhelming.
The crowd reaction was telling. Applause after the trailer was subdued, some were standing up as soon as it ended, and it sounded like they had to beg from the stage for interest to run the trailer again. Personally, I dropped the stream after watching it once.
I just don’t see a lot in Legion to get excited about. Two new ships, freelance jobs, a color picker for Christ’s sake, and a whole lot of vague promises for the future.
EDIT: forgot the new map. Have to admit, that’ll be nice as well.
I was extremely whelmed by this Keynote. The trailer was worse than any corporate powerpoint presentation.
Don’t forget the map. That was actually something that got me excited a bit. We get rid of this garbage trainwreck of the current new beta map and instead get the glory of the old map in new tech. That’s good. CCP basically did not come up with anything new themselves this year. Nothing at all. Map, Angel Dread, Freelance, Comet mining and so on are all things players have been asking for for years. Yet, CCP did not mention, let alone highlight this at all.
One of the more interesting aspects of the keynotes I thought.
We’re getting 11 new overhauled (graphics, animation) and rebalanced T1 cruisers - so that’s something. I wonder if the new models will extend to their T2/Faction counterparts…
Some do (like the Thorax line). However, I don’t get why the Maller gets a redesign AGAIN. It was one of the first redesigned ships and still looks gorgeous. Yet, other ships like the Belicose, Scythe, Imicus have not received any redesign at all.
Me too. And yet, it slipped my mind in the sum up.
I wasn’t sure. Is that coming in Legion, or is that one of those “maybe someday” features? They were kind of swerving there at the end between deliverables and hypotheticals.
They said 11 T1 ships, but only featured a handful in the short video clip. I think we’ll see more in the Legion-specific presentation tomorrow.
I think it’s coming - but my bet would be in the Fall expansion. If they roll it out for Legion I’d be very surprised.
Hopefully. *fingers crossed*
One thing I absolutely detested was the constant plug for Discord. It’s already hard enough to find information with it being scattered between Instagram, Twitter, Discord, etc. You’d think that the “Official” forums would be the ideal branching off point…
Also not really sure what EVE Vanguard Nemesis has to do with the EVE Legion expansion announcement in the launcher - since Nemesis isn’t being released until September.
Dr. Becky in a pantsuit. I didn’t need that visual. The freelance projects, on the other hand, seem interesting.
Hiding and obscuring information ha been CCP’s strong point for years. On Discord, it is ridiculously hard to find information that is older than a day or two.
This forum, based on Discourse, is also trying its hardest to obscur information from being found, though.
Half of the devs looked like their mother had literally just called them up from the basement and they brushed off the Hot Pocket crumbs from their wrinkled clothes as best they could before they took the stage…
The only thing I’m even remotely interested in are the Freelance projects. Now watch, it will be for nullsec corps only…
The map feature is nice as well. They’ve basically integrated evedotlan into the game. Now, do the same for Pyfa, so we can simulate skills and implants. Then we would have no need for Pyfa. Some type of in-game wormhole mapping would be handy.
The keynote presentation was shockingly bad. I expected to be disappointed, but apparently even that was setting the bar too high.
It’s not just those of us watching on Twitch that were disappointed though.
I feel really bad for those who saved and paid a lot of hard earned money to attend, particularly those attending for the first time.
Others who were meeting corp mates etc, (a lot probably go every year) would still have been let down because of seeing other keynote speeches over the years, as I have.
If I’d gone again I’d be really pissed off at was was offered.
Not quite as bad the time all the Dust 514 players trekked out to FanFest… only to be told that CCP was winding down Dust 514 in the keynote. Ouch…
